Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Continuous Improvement, the Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for supporting the Calgary Distribution Centre team in identifying improvement opportunities, developing solutions, and standardizing processes across sites. The incumbent produces and analyzes reports and manages projects from needs assessment through implementation and user training.
Key Accountabilities
- Analyze site operational processes, identify opportunities for improvement and optimization, validate feasibility, and assess potential benefits.
- Participate in the standardization of processes, performance indicators, and management methods across logistics sites.
- Ensure the proper implementation of new procedures.
- Integrate continuous improvement methods and processes into the daily management of operations.
- Participate in problem-solving activities and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Map and document business processes.
- Conduct analyses based on SAP data and other relevant databases.
- Identify improvement opportunities related to processes, tools, and management practices.
- Coordinate the deployment and execution of new practices and procedures.
- Act as a change agent by promoting a collaborative stakeholder approach and coaching operations teams through change management initiatives.
- Provide user training and post-implementation support.
- Support and train managers in the effective management of their operations.
- Develop, organize, and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the distribution centre documentation system to improve process standardization and team capabilities.
- Maintain and improve KPI reports, internal dashboards,
and existing performance dashboards.
- Serve as the Operations representative on system-related projects, including SAP implementations, digital transformation, and automation initiatives.
- May be required to work alongside operations teams to support day-to-day activities and project implementations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel (PivotTables, formulas, macros, VBA);
experience with the Microsoft Power Platform is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of SAP EWM or any other Warehouse Management System (WMS) is considered an asset.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Strong interest in hands-on operational work, with an active presence on the floor to support teams through change.
- Robust organizational skills, autonomy, attention to detail, and proactive prioritization abilities.
- Ability to unite teams around common objectives and foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
