Reporting to senior leadership and working closely with Council, you will provide trusted legal advice, help advance self-government implementation, oversee external legal counsel, and play an important role in supporting development, housing, and organizational growth.

Responsibilities

Provide confident, practical legal opinions and advice to senior leadership, Council, committees, and internal stakeholders

Advise on matters relating to Aboriginal law, self-government, and self-government implementation

Identify legal and operational issues, assess risk,



and provide clear recommendations to help move initiatives forward

Manage the organization's broader self-government implementation plan by navigating legal and operational considerations

Support significant organizational initiatives involving development, housing, administration, and continued growth

Qualifications

Be called to the BC Bar and be in good standing

Ideal 7 - 10 years of post call experience

Extensive experience with Aboriginal Law

Strong understanding of self-government structures and implementation processes

Highly organized with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
