Online General English Teacher — Young Learners

What you will do

- Deliver personalized General English lessons covering speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar, according to each learner’s needs.
- Use age-appropriate visuals, stories, games, and interactive activities to maintain engagement.
- Create a patient, encouraging environment that helps children communicate confidently.
- Assess each learner’s starting level, set practical learning goals, and adapt lessons as they progress.
- Prepare appropriate lesson materials and maintain concise lesson notes and progress updates.
- Coordinate with PAOSOKO on lessons, scheduling, and student progress.

Qualifications and experience
- Native-level spoken and written English, with clear pronunciation and a strong understanding of English grammar.
- A bachelor’s degree in education, English, linguistics, or a related subject is preferred.
- CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL, a TEFL/TESOL certificate of at least 120 hours, or a relevant recognized teaching qualification.
- At least two years of English-teaching experience, including direct experience with young learners.
- Experience delivering one-to-one online lessons and using digital teaching materials.
- A patient, warm, and adaptable teaching style, with the ability to support shy children and learners with different attention spans.
- Strong punctuality, organization, and professional communication.
- Commitment to child safeguarding, appropriate professional boundaries, and student privacy.

Experience with primary school learners, phonics, and confidence-building speaking activities is particularly welcome.

Your skilled home-teaching setup





You must have

- A reliable laptop or desktop capable of running video lessons, screen sharing, and teaching materials simultaneously; at least 8 GB of RAM, with 16 GB preferred.
- A functioning HD webcam, preferably 1080p, positioned at eye level.
- A quality headset or microphone that delivers clear speech with minimal background noise and echo.
- A stable broadband connection with at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload available during lessons. A wired Ethernet connection is preferred.
- A tested backup internet connection, such as a reliable mobile hotspot, ready to use if the main connection fails.
- A quiet, private, well-lit workspace with a tidy, professional background and minimal household interruptions.
- A reliable power supply, with a practical backup arrangement where outages are common.
- Updated software and confidence using video conferencing, screen sharing, and interactive teaching tools.

A phone or tablet alone is not sufficient as the main teaching device. Teachers must check their equipment before lessons and promptly report any technical issues affecting delivery.
