Join the Government of Nunavut as a Clerk Interpreter based in Cambridge Bay. This role requires translation services for health services, utilizing Inuktitut and/or Inuinnaqtun and English.
Reporting to the Manager of the Continuing Care Centre, the Clerk Interpreter will facilitate communication between patients and the health team, ensuring efficient service delivery. Ideal candidates will exhibit solid clerical skills and possess experience in interpreting and translation. Knowledge of local Inuit culture and languages is crucial for this highly sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide confidential translation services for health clients
• Facilitate communications between patients and health services
• Perform clerical support functions for health services
• Manage patient complaints and referral services
• Serve as a resource for Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun in the office
Requirements:
• Minimum Grade 10 education and one year interpreting experience
• Fluent in Inuktitut/Inuinnaqtun and English
• Valid driver’s license may be needed
• WHMIS and Dangerous Goods certification required within one year
• CPR/First Aid certification is an asset
