We offer one-on-one, on-leash private neighborhood walks in Mount Pleasant, Fairview, and Riley Park. Dog walking hours are typically Monday to Friday between 10am – 3pm.
We are looking to hire someone 3–5 days per week, either Tuesday–Thursday or Monday–Friday, depending on availability.
Applicants must
- Be a dog lover who is comfortable getting wet and muddy
- Support Positive Reinforcement and Fear/Force Free pet care
- Be able to lift 30 lbs (a small-to-medium sized dog) and handle dogs of all sizes
- Be able to walk 5–7 km per day (approximately 10,000 steps) and enjoy walking in all weather
- Have a working smartphone with internet access and space for an app and photos/videos
- Be legally allowed to work in Canada and currently living in Vancouver, BC
- Be fluent in English (spoken and written) for report cards and client communication
Responsibilities:
- Attend occasional meet-and-greets with new clients
- Review each dog’s individual needs and known triggers
- Arrive at the client’s home on time or within the scheduled time window
- Enter and exit clients’ homes safely and securely
- Remain attentive to surroundings and potential triggers during walks
- Start and end each walk in the app (which records the route for clients)
- Ensure the walk length matches the booking (app timer provided)
- Pick up all waste and dispose of it in city bins
- Take photos and videos during walks when safe to do so
- Write a short report card with photos/videos for clients in the app
Preference for applicants who have:
- Pet First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous experience in dog walking or pet sitting
- Experience with reactive dogs
- Education in animal care or handling
- Understanding of dog behaviour and body language
You will be required to pass a criminal background check and provide two references if an interview is successful.
