Terminal Operations & Maintenance Technician III
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with potential for on-call and after-hours support)

Employment Type: Contract with potential for full-time conversion

Position Overview
Brunel is seeking an experienced Terminal Operations & Maintenance Technician III to support the secure and reliable operation of a fuel distribution terminal in Calgary, Alberta. This position is responsible for providing both operational and maintenance support across terminal assets, including tank farms, rotating equipment, metering systems, instrumentation, and associated facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational excellence through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, equipment reliability initiatives, product quality assurance, and active participation in site safety programs. This position requires a self-motivated professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision while supporting terminal operations and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

Perform operational and maintenance activities related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of fuel products and additives.

Support the safe operation of terminal facilities, ensuring compliance with company policies, site procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and operational issues across terminal equipment and systems.

Operate, maintain, inspect, and repair terminal assets including:

Rotating equipment

Pumps and motors

Metering systems

Instrumentation and controls

Loading and unloading systems

Conduct routine tank inspections, tank sampling, and product quality verification activities.

Assist with driver and carrier support activities to ensure efficient terminal operations.

Participate in planned maintenance, shutdown activities, inspections,



and reliability initiatives.

Support emergency response activities and participate in after-hours callouts when required.

Issue, receive, and manage work permits in accordance with site permit-to-work procedures.

Execute and enforce energy isolation procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).

Maintain accurate documentation, operating records, maintenance records, and compliance reports.

Actively participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, inspections, and operational reviews.

Promote and demonstrate a strong safety culture and operational discipline across the site.

Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, reliability, efficiency, and product quality.

Assist site leadership with operational assessments, inspections, and special projects.

Serve as a site resource for PLC systems and control system troubleshooting, where applicable.

Provide guidance and support to junior employees and contractors as required.

Report directly to the Process Lead and/or Terminal Manager.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience in terminal operations, midstream operations, industrial maintenance, or a related oil and gas environment.

Robust experience working within fuel distribution terminals, tank farms, bulk storage facilities, or midstream operations.

Proven ability to troubleshoot and maintain:

Mechanical systems

Electrical systems

Instrumentation and control systems

Rotating equipment

Metering systems

Excellent understanding of operational procedures,



product quality requirements, and safety standards.

Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates possessing one or more of the following certifications are strongly preferred:

Red Seal Millwright

PLC programming and troubleshooting experience

Experience in fuel terminal, pipeline, bulk liquids, or petroleum storage operations

Safety & Compliance Requirements

Strong commitment to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.

Demonstrated experience working under permit-to-work systems.

Thorough understanding of energy isolation and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices.

Experience participating in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.

Ability to work within a safety-sensitive environment.

Must successfully complete required drug and alcohol testing and site access requirements.
