The Child and Youth Advocacy Specialist role, reporting to the Manager of Individual Advocacy Services, involves direct advocacy for children and youth in Nunavut. You will collaborate with government departments and community partners, ensuring adherence to the Representative for Children and Youth Act. Bringing knowledge of Inuit values and the unique challenges faced by this demographic is key to your success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide advocacy support to youth and families in complex situations
• Collaborate with government and service providers for effective outcomes
• Develop recommendations for policy and program changes
• Maintain knowledge of programs and legislation affecting youth
• Engage with community stakeholders to raise awareness
Requirements:
• University degree in Social Work or related field
• Three years of experience in service to children and youth
• Successful Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks
• Knowledge of Inuit culture and community dynamics
• Fluency in one or more Official Languages of Nunavut
