We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a team in Ontario on a contract basis.
This position is ideal for a payroll and accounting specialist who can manage financial records with precision, support reporting cycles, and work closely with cross-functional partners.
The successful candidate will contribute to accurate payroll administration, reconciliations, and month-end activities while maintaining a high standard of confidentiality and professionalism.
Responsibilities: Administer bi-weekly payroll for a small group of salaried employees, ensuring all payments are processed correctly and in accordance with applicable guidelines.
Update and maintain payroll information, including employee changes, deductions, and record adjustments, to keep files current and accurate.
Prepare payroll-related journal entries and record transactions properly within the financial system.
Reconcile payroll and general ledger accounts,
review discrepancies, and follow up on variances to support accurate reporting.
Verify that payroll information is properly captured in the organization''s systems and correct inconsistencies when identified.
Assist with month-end and year-end payroll close activities by compiling data, validating figures, and supporting reporting requirements.
Address employee and internal payroll questions promptly, investigate issues thoroughly, and resolve discrepancies with professionalism.
Work closely with Finance and Human Resources to support smooth payroll processing, accurate documentation, and reliable reporting.
Use M3 and related tools to manage payroll transactions and support bookkeeping activities tied to payroll accounting.
