Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Manager of Maintenance
Union: BCGEU
Compensation: $31.18-$33.58/hour
Status: Full time, Regular
Posting Closing Date: September 15, 2026 at 4pm
Available Opportunities:
26-041 - 7:30am - 6:00pm, Monday to Thursday (80 hours bi-weekly)
26-051 - 7:30am - 6:00pm, Sunday to Wednesday (80 hours bi-weekly)

Primary Objectives:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out a wide range of building maintenance and repair activities to ensure that Pacifica Housing properties remain safe, functional, and well-maintained for tenants and staff. As part of the Property Services team, this role fulfills maintenance work orders according to prescribed schedules and established quality standards, while also responding to urgent maintenance issues and supporting unit turnover.
The Maintenance Technician contributes directly to housing quality and tenant satisfaction by:
Performing general building maintenance, repair, and installation work
Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and Residential Tenancy Act (RTA) requirements
Assisting with unit turnovers, inspections, and repairs to maintain housing quality standards
Documenting work orders, reports, and safety incidents accurately and on time
Working both independently and as part of a team to ensure timely, effective service delivery
This role requires strong trade and maintenance skills, reliability, and the ability to communicate effectively with tenants, staff, and contractors while upholding Pacifica Housing's values of safety, respect, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs
Carry out a variety of building repairs and maintenance, including plumbing, appliances, drywall, painting, and minor electrical
Complete residential installations and assembly (e.g., doors, blinds, fixtures)




Perform suite renovations and unit turnover activities to organizational standards
Troubleshoot and resolve general building maintenance issues in a timely manner
Compliance & Safety
Post official notices (e.g., Notices to End Tenancy, Notices to Enter) in compliance with the Residential Tenancy Act, as directed by the Maintenance Operations Coordinator or Senior Manager
Report safety hazards, incidents, or accidents immediately to the Senior Manager or Maintenance Operations Coordinator
Follow health and safety standards while performing maintenance duties
Remain available for off-hours emergency call-outs as scheduled
Documentation & Reporting
Complete and submit required paperwork, including maintenance work orders and mileage claims
Report to the Manager of Maintenance on work completed, issues requiring follow-up, and items currently in progress
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
Collaboration & Communication
Maintain cooperative and respectful relationships with tenants, staff, and contractors
Work independently to complete assignments and meet deadlines
Support other members of the Maintenance Team and Property Services staff as needed
Other Duties
Perform additional maintenance or property-related duties as assigned to support overall operations
Requirements
Education:
High school graduation
Must hold a Basic First Aid Certificate
Experience:
Experience as a maintenance technician or in a similar role, preferably in a non-profit housing environment
Demonstrated experience in building maintenance and repair
Experience using hand and power tools
Preferred: 2 years' experience in suite renovations or building maintenance
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong trade skills including carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall patching/installation, flooring, and minor electrical repairs
Ability to troubleshoot and perform general residential building maintenance




Ability to use a mobile phone for email, texting, calls, and calendar management
Strong time management, problem-solving, and independent work skills
Additional Criteria for Role:
Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check is required before employment commences
Must have valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle with a minimum of $2 million liability ‘business class' insurance
Must be available to be on the on call roster, as well as on off hours, for emergency call outs
As Pacifica Housing works with vulnerable populations, We require all staff to successfully clear a Vulnerable Sectors Criminal Record Check run by the Ministry of Justice. Any offer of employment is contingent on the applicant providing proof of criminal record check prior to commencing employment.
Please note: While this position is posted externally concurrently, members within the collective bargaining unit will receive first consideration in the appointment.
