The opportunity: your next adventure awaits EY Indigenous Tax Summer Internship is an exciting opportunity for students who self-identify as Indigenous looking to explore a potential career with EY Tax practice.

In EY Tax, you’ll have the opportunity to help the world’s leading multinational organizations meet complex tax obligations around the world. You’ll get a unique glimpse deep inside a company’s business and become a trusted advisor, working collaboratively on a team that influences major business decisions.
As a co‑op or intern student within our Tax practice, you’ll have the prospect to work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to a variety of client engagements. Responsibilities may include supporting research and analysis, preparing documentation and deliverables, assisting with data gathering and review, and helping teams meet client and business objectives. You’ll develop technical and professional skills, build relationships with colleagues and clients, and gain exposure to a wide range of projects and industries. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a collaborative, inclusive, and team‑oriented environment that supports learning, growth, and professional development.
Please note that students wishing to pursue a Canadian CPA designation, must have competed or be in the process of completing an undergraduate or graduate degree, and on track to complete all pre‑requisite courses for the New CPA Professional Education Program as defined by their local CPA Body.
*Global Compliance Reporting - GCR
The GCR practice provides corporate tax compliance, tax provision and tax planning services to public and private companies in many industries, such as consumer products, industrials and energy, financial services, private equity and technology, entertainment, and communications. By joining GCR, you will have the opportunity to combine corporate tax work with structured and virtual learning. Our learning and development curriculum will help you build your career in Canadian Corporate tax, which includes work experience in tax compliance, tax accrual reviews, tax provisions and tax planning. Our people work on key client issues in domestic corporate income taxation, with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives.
* GCR professionals are strongly encouraged to pursue and obtain a Canadian CPA designation, as it supports professional development, client credibility, and long‑term career progression. Experience acquired in this role may be used towards qualifying for the CPA designation where it meets the new CPA practical experience requirements.
*EY Private
EY Private Tax advises private organizations and high net worth business owners and individuals on domestic and cross‑border tax planning, estate, wealth transfer and postmortem planning, asset protection strategies and philanthropic planning.
* Experience acquired in this role may be used towards qualifying for the CPA designation where it meets the new CPA practical experience requirements.
Quantitative Services
EY’s multidisciplinary Quantitative Services team (QS), specializes in tax credits for Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED;).



Quantitative Services deliver cost savings to clients by assisting them to time their tax returns, minimize their capital allowances, claim R&D; incentives, optimize their locations strategy and finance their environmental sustainability.

Indirect Tax

EY Indirect Tax provides comprehensive services to help businesses navigate the complexities of indirect tax regulations, including value‑added tax (VAT), goods and services tax (GST), and other transaction‑based taxes. They assist clients in compliance, planning, and optimization strategies to minimize tax liabilities and manage risks effectively. Sub specialities in Indirect Tax include Indirect Tax Recovery, helping clients reclaim overpaid taxes, and Global Trade, offering expertise in customs and trade compliance to enhance cross‑border operations. Additionally, EY Indirect Tax offers technology solutions and insights to improve tax processes and reporting.
International Tax and Transaction Services – US Tax
ITTS is made up of 5 sub specialties, International Tax Services, Transaction Tax Services, US Tax, Transfer Pricing and Data Intelligence. This group of teams provides tax services for many of the world's largest multinational organizations helping these corporations identify and solve complex domestic and international tax issues and assist them in successfully aligning all the different areas of taxation into a benefit‑driven strategy.
People Advisory Services Tax – Mobility & Rewards
PAS Mobility services include Canadian and US personal income tax compliance and advisory services; mobility policy design; executive compensation advice; employer tax advice; and global coordination.

Qualifications Be in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting
For a career in indirect tax, you should be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or law
Demonstrate teaming, organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills and the willingness and ability to learn and work independently
Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Quebec based roles involve interaction with clients operating nationally and globally where fluency in French and English is required. Bilingualism in both French and English is therefore a requirement of this role.

What you can expect We are currently accepting internship applications for our Tax groups for May 2027.

EY reports salary ranges in accordance with applicable provincial pay transparency legislation. Individual salaries within the anticipated salary ranges noted below are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, education, relevant experience, knowledge, and applicable skill sets.

Ottawa: $50,000 to $59,000
Waterloo: $56,000 to $65,000
