Duties
The Quebec Regional Office offers a dynamic and stimulating work environment and is recognized for the quality of its legal services, its innovative spirit, and the dedication of its employees.As a legal assistant at the Quebec Regional Office, you will be responsible for preparing and formatting a variety of legal and administrative documents and correspondence; opening, organizing, maintaining and closing physical and electronic case files; calculating and coordinating timelines when serving and filing legal documents to the courts, the registry office and other various parties; providing administrative support by managing, preparing and maintaining daily agendas and emails of assigned counsels; planning, coordinating and invoicing travel arrangements; facilitating the flow of information between legal professionals, clients and other parties.For more information about the organization, please visit:

Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff French essential and bilingual imperative positions with various language requirements on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of partially assessed or fully qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions within the Department of Justice with various tenures, various language requirements, operational requirements, organizational needs and/or conditions of employment.

Education: A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience:EX1: Experience in providing legal or administrative support services.

Abilities: A1: Ability to draft, layout and format correspondence and routine legal or administrative documents.

Asset Qualifications:A.ED.1: A diploma or certificate from a law-related program (e.g. legal assistant, law clerk, paralegal assistant program or an equivalent program) from a recognized institution. or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

A. EX. 1: Significant experience (2 years acquired within the last 5 years) providing support services to a lawyer or notary in the capacity of legal assistant.

A. EX. 2: Experience with the rules of the federal and provincial courts.

A. EX. 3: Experience providing support as a legal assistant in a particular area of law such as, but not limited to: notarial law, tax law, Indigenous law, real estate law in the province of Quebec, immigration law, correctional law, civil litigation in the province of Quebec, etc.

A. EX. 4: Experience planning and organizing travel arrangements and submitting travel expense reimbursement claims.

A. EX. 5: Experience working in the federal public service within the Department of Justice, the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, or the Courts Administration Service.

A. EX. 6: Experience working with national security organizations.

A. K.1: Knowledge of legal terminology and legal documents.
