Alberta

Our Pipeline Construction & Integrity Programs group is currently looking to add a Project Controller to our growing team, working on-site across projects in Alberta.

Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls, we are seeking a detail-driven Project Controller who has proven experience in project controls, cost tracking, scheduling, and change management within pipeline or energy infrastructure construction. We are looking for someone to build the work breakdown structure behind a project, work closely in the field to identify change as they happens, and keep the cost, schedule, and revenue picture accurate day to day, including LEMs, progress claims, and billing. It will support major mainline construction projects, pipeline and facility construction programs, and integrity dig work executed under master service agreements.

Please Note: this is a field-based position working on-site at various project locations throughout Alberta. Living out allowance will be paid while on assignment. Shift schedules vary by project, ranging from 6 days on / 1 day off up to 24 days on / 4 days off. Extended hours may be required during active construction and around reporting and billing cycles.

Duties & Responsibilities

Build and maintain work breakdown structure so that scope, schedule, and cost all code back to the same structure

Work directly with Superintendents and the Project Manager to capture accurate quantities, production, hours, and progress from the field

Identify and document changes as they occur, and develop the pricing detail and backup behind each change order

Initiate and manage purchase orders and subcontract agreements in the ERP system, from issue through receipt and close

Audit and validate project invoicing and charges against purchase orders, subcontracts, and work actually performed

Prepare LEM submissions, progress claims, and support progress billing in accordance with the client service agreement and rate structures

Process subcontractor and vendor payments, and track holdback and outstanding commitments

Build and maintain the project schedule, including the baseline, progress updates, forecast, and rolling look-aheads

Compile revenue, and forecast information, and prepare the monthly cost report, revenue package, and earned value calculations

Maintain project document control, the change log, and the risk and value-add registers

Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly client and internal reporting, and support meeting administration

Direct and review the work of a Project Administrator where one is assigned, and run the full controls function independently where one is not

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent

3 years experience in project controls, project coordination, cost control, scheduling, or construction administration

Demonstrated experience in pipeline construction, integrity, or comparable energy infrastructure work

Proven experience building and maintaining work breakdown structure, schedule, and cost structure that tie together

Experience preparing LEM submissions, progress claims, and progress billing against a construction service agreement and its rate structures

Experience preparing revenue and cost forecasts for client and internal reporting

Working experience in an ERP or construction management system, including purchase orders, subcontracts, and invoice review

Strong command of scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, and advanced spreadsheet skills

Valid driver's license

Post-Secondary education in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or a related discipline
