About the Team The Ministry of Highways provides a safe, reliable transportation system to support Saskatchewan’s growth and quality of life. We manage and develop an integrated sustainable transportation system that supports economic growth and promotes the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. Saskatchewan's road network is the largest in Canada which consists of around 26,500 km of provincial highways. We operate and maintain approximately 700 bridges, 12 ferries, one barge and 16 northern airports.

ABOUT THE JOB The Opportunity:

The Ministry of Highways, Southern Operations, is seeking a less-than-full-time Seasonal Ferry Operator for the Riverhurst Ferry Crossing.

Responsibilities Performs safe operating practices, water rescue procedures during ferry operations in compliance with The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and workplace procedures.
Performs routine equipment maintenance, including basic mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, fuel and lubrication systems.
Applies standard safety precautions and practices according to established protocols, guidelines and legislation.




Identifies and diagnoses equipment failures; performs minor repairs and coordinates major repairs with the Ministry.
Communicates issues, policies and procedures clearly to clients, team members and stakeholders.
Prepares work schedules, instructs, guides, coaches and motivates team members to enhance performance and skill development.
Organizes, records and presents verbal and written information in a transparent, concise, complete, accurate and timely manner.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

Class 5 driver’s license
