**Job Title: Machinist**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on precision manual and CNC machining in a clean, quality-driven manufacturing environment.

You will read and interpret detailed blueprints, perform turning and machining to tight tolerances, and support critical nuclear and infrastructure projects through high-accuracy work and continuous improvement.
**Responsibilities**
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machining schematics to plan and execute machining operations accurately.

Perform precision turning and machining on manual and CNC equipment to very tight tolerances, ensuring parts meet all specifications.

Select appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds for a wide range of materials, including steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and specialty alloys.

Set up and operate conventional lathes and CNC lathes for both production and custom machining work.

Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.

Design and build fixtures and jigs as required to support complex machining operations and improve workflow.

Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to maintain high standards and comply with ISO and other quality requirements.

Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.

Collaborate with team members and other departments to resolve machining challenges and ensure on-time delivery of parts.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop safety policies and procedures.

Document work as required, including job travelers, inspection records, and CNC program revisions.

Provide occasional support to CNC operations, including setup, troubleshooting, and optimization of machining parameters.
**Essential Skills**
Strong manual machining experience, with significant hands-on work using conventional lathes and turning operations.
5+ years of combined CNC and manual machining experience, with roughly equal exposure to both manual and CNC machines.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, machining drawings, and technical schematics.

Demonstrated ability to machine steel and aluminum with precision and consistency.

Experience with machine setup, including tooling selection, workholding, and alignment on lathes and related equipment.

Working knowledge of CNC machining and programming principles, particularly for CNC lathes.

Strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate measurements, tight tolerances, and high-quality finishes.

Effective communication skills to share information, discuss issues, and collaborate with team members.

Solid problem-solving skills to diagnose machining issues and implement practical solutions.

Ability to work successfully in a quality-focused manufacturing environment with established standards and procedures.

Capability to perform quality checks and inspections during and after machining operations.

Eligibility to work in a Controlled Goods environment and ability to pass a background check.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
429A General Machinist, 492A, or equivalent trade certification.

Experience with CNC setup and programming, including creating and modifying CNC programs.





Familiarity with Solid

Works for interpreting models and supporting machining workflows.

Experience using GibbsCAM or similar CAM software for toolpath generation and program preparation.

Knowledge of conversational CNC programming on relevant machine controls.

Experience machining specialty alloys such as Titanium, Zirconium, Stainless Steel, and Inconel.

Exposure to machining in an ISO 9001 or similar quality-certified environment.

Experience with surface grinding and related precision finishing operations.

Understanding of ISO standards and quality system requirements.

Ability to perform detailed quality checks, measurements, and documentation in support of quality assurance.

Comfort working with both standard and specialty materials in a nuclear and industrial manufacturing context.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arnprior, ON.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $44.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Arnprior,ON.
