**Job Title: Forklift Operator / Warehouse Associate**
**Job Description**
This role is a hands-on forklift operator and warehouse associate position within a busy distribution environment.

You will primarily pick and load orders for a wide range of customers and operate reach and sit-down forklifts.

The position starts indoors with a mix of manual lifting and forklift operation, and may transition outdoors to full time sit-down forklift work in the yard.

You play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely order fulfillment while maintaining a safe, organized warehouse.
**Responsibilities**
Pick and load customer orders promptly once they are received from the order desk, ensuring accuracy and safe handling of all materials.

Stop current tasks when notified and prioritize loading customer orders into their trucks to support fast, efficient service.

Work indoors initially, spending approximately half of the time manually lifting and handbombing individual items and the remaining time operating reach and sit-down forklifts.

Frequently get on and off forklifts throughout the day to assist with manual handling, lifting, and staging of product.

Use RF scanners to pick orders and confirm correct items, quantities, and locations.

Prepare and stage picks for customers who have pre-ordered materials for upcoming days.

When moved outdoors, operate a sit-down forklift in the yard for the majority of the day, working outside in varying weather conditions.

Provide courteous and efficient customer service to walk-in and scheduled customers, including contractors who may be demanding or time-sensitive.

Multitask effectively by switching between order picking, loading, unloading, and customer assistance as priorities change.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both the warehouse and yard, including following all safety procedures for forklift operation and material handling.

Collaborate with a small warehouse and yard team, supporting colleagues and stepping in to help wherever needed.

Adhere to scheduled shifts, breaks, and overtime requirements, including early morning starts when necessary.
**Essential Skills**
At least 1 year of experience operating a reach forklift for order picking in a narrow environment or smaller warehouse.

At least 1 year of experience operating a sit-down forklift, preferably in a yard setting.

At least 1 year of experience working in a smaller warehouse environment with varied products and physical duties.

At least 1 year of customer service experience, interacting directly with customers and supporting their orders.

At least 1 year of counterbalance forklift experience with propane and/or electric equipment.

Valid Alberta certification for stand-up forklifts (reach and dockstocker) and sit-down forklifts.

Ability to continuously lift up to 50 lbs on your own and up to 80 lbs with a partner, throughout the workday.

Strong communication skills to coordinate with the warehouse team and provide explicit, professional service to customers.

Ability to multitask, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and remain calm and efficient when customers are waiting.

Comfort working in a physical, fast-paced environment with building materials such as drywall and concrete.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience using RF scan guns to pick and verify orders.

Experience operating dockstocker forklifts.

Additional sit-down forklift experience in yard or outdoor environments.

Go-getter attitude with a willingness to step in and help wherever needed.

Reliability in attendance and transportation, given the early start times and distance from public transit.
**Why Work Here?**
You join a tight-knit team with high tenure and a culture that values hard work, reliability, and teamwork.

The environment supports growth, with real examples of employees moving from entry-level roles into sales and leadership positions.

You benefit from medical and dental coverage and RSP matching, while working in a place that focuses on making people feel part of the team and takes pride in keeping customers satisfied.

The mix of long-standing staff and diverse personalities creates a supportive setting where motivated individuals can build skills and pursue long-term opportunities.
**Work Environment**
You interact continuously with customers, including some who may be impatient or demanding, and you must be comfortable dropping what you are doing to load their orders promptly.

The typical schedule is a first shift, generally Monday to Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., working 8 hours within that window, with a half-hour lunch and two 15-minute breaks taken when operationally appropriate.

Overtime may occur before or after the regular shift within the same time frame.

The facility is approximately a 30-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, so reliable transportation is preferred.

Work is busiest in the summer and slows down in the winter, with long-term opportunities dependent on performance and business needs.

You work as part of a team of about nine people across the warehouse and yard, in an environment that expects a practical dress code suitable for physical work and outdoor conditions
