**Position Description**
**Job Summary:**
The Clinical Research Data Analyst will work closely with Dr.

Alastair Fung's research team at the Child Health Evaluative Sciences (CHES) program in the Research Institute at The Hospital for Sick Children to support data management, analysis, and reporting for research focused on clinical deterioration in hospitalized children.

The role will primarily involve the use of routinely collected electronic health record data from the Sick

Kids Enterprise-wide Data in Azure Repository (SEDAR), including studies evaluating electronic health record-based definitions of clinical deterioration and developing and validating prediction models for clinical deterioration.

The Clinical Research Data Analyst will report to Dr.

Alastair Fung (Principal Investigator, Associate Scientist-Track Investigator).
**Project Summary:**
Dr.

Alastair Fung's research program at The Hospital for Sick Children aims to improve the recognition and prediction of clinical deterioration in hospitalized children.

The program uses routinely collected electronic health record data to evaluate approaches for identifying clinical deterioration and to develop and validate prediction models that may support earlier recognition of children at risk of deterioration.

The Clinical Research Data Analyst will work closely with Dr.

Alastair Fung to support data extraction, database development and management, and statistical analysis for studies within his research program.
**Specific job duties include:**
·
Supporting the extraction, management, and preparation of routinely collected electronic health record data from SEDAR for research analyses.
·
Developing analytic cohorts and datasets using patient, admission, location, clinical event, and other electronic health record data.
·
Collaborating with study team members to develop statistical analysis plans and ensure appropriate research and analytic methods are applied.
·
Working closely with Dr.

Alastair Fung and other study team members to conduct statistical analyses for clinical research studies within the research program.
·
Operationalizing and evaluating electronic health record-based definitions of clinical outcomes, including clinical deterioration.
·
Conducting descriptive and statistical analyses, including estimation of the incidence and characteristics of clinical deterioration.
·
Supporting the development and internal validation of clinical prediction models using statistical and machine learning methods, including appropriate assessment of model performance, discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility.
·
Developing and implementing reproducible data cleaning, validation, quality assurance, and analytic procedures, with clear documentation and version control (e.g., Git).
·
Establishing and maintaining data management workflows, data dictionaries, and analytic documentation.
·
Clearly communicating and interpreting study methods and results to research team members.
·
Preparing clear, effective, and publication-quality data visualizations, including graphs, tables, figures, and dashboards, to communicate research findings and analytic outputs.

Assisting with the preparation of abstracts, presentations, reports, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
**Here's What You Need:**

Graduate degree (MSc, MPH, or PhD) in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
·
Experience conducting quantitative clinical or health research, including the application of appropriate statistical methods.
·




Experience working with large and complex health or administrative datasets; experience with electronic health record data is preferred.
·
Strong proficiency in statistical programming using
**R**
.
·
Experience with data management, cleaning, manipulation, and creation of reproducible analytic datasets.
·
Experience with regression modelling; experience with clinical prediction modelling or machine learning methods is an asset.
·
Ability to translate research questions and study objectives into appropriate data management and analytic approaches.
·
High level of precision and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently on complex analytic tasks.
·
Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
·
Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong working relationships with multidisciplinary research team members.
·
