Wage Transparency: The base salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000.
The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location.
Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
About the Role
We are looking to recruit a Junior Underwriter for our Toronto team.
Your key responsibilities will be to maintain existing Renewals and develop new business with our Binder markets, and recruiting and grow the SME Team
What You'll Do
Identify business development opportunities within each key broker's book of business including the development of a prospects list for the region
Conduct regular business development meetings with key brokers' staff
Market specialist products, services, and approach to business throughout the regional marketplace
Introduce new products to market, including development and delivery of product presentations to all
brokers
Develop and implement regional marketing plan
Maintain Regional Broker list, including systems updates
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers
Market products and services, at customer conferences and trade shows
Acquire and maintain senior level underwriting skills
Underwrite and negotiate renewal of more complex accounts
What You Bring
Post-graduate degree or certification
CIP/FCIP designation or in progress
Developed knowledge and applied experience in the application of industry legislation and regulations; knowledge of industry objectives, trends and issues
Minimum 5 years of commercial property and casualty underwriting experience
Demonstrable sales and marketing experience
Experience/exposure to financial management methods, the nature of insurance risk and reinsurance costs, underwriting, claims underwriting and reinsurance
Demonstrable proficiency in underwriting basic to moderately complex books of commercial property and casualty products, including underwriting coverage, pricing, production and delivery, risk management and managing local brokerage plans
