Position: Mechanical Designer, Intermediate
Shift: 40 hours | Full-time
Department: Engineering - Mechatronics
Location: Richmond, BC, Canada (HQ relocating to Vancouver in 2027)
Reports to: Lead, Mechatronics Engineering
The Mechanical Designer, Intermediate, will own the design and delivery, of ride pumping and mechanical systems that ensure safety, reduce project lead times, and ensure consistent, right-first-time execution across global projects.
This role bridges engineering design and project delivery, ensuring that mechanical systems are technically sound, buildable, reliable, and commercially competitive.
YOUR ROLE Lead the design and delivery of robust ride pumping and mechanical systems for complex installations
Take accountability for accurate, complete, right-first-time engineering outputs that reduce rework and field issues
Support mechanical readiness for commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer handover at global project sites
Develop cost-effective, buildable pumping solutions that support bid, proposal, and project delivery commitments
Develop and maintain reusable water delivery modules and standard mechanical solutions across ride platforms
Coordinate with Project Execution, Product,
and Supply Chain to keep mechanical deliverables aligned with schedule, scope, and supply requirements
Deliver project drawings, P&IDs;, CAD models, bills of materials, and related engineering documentation
Be responsible for water flow and pumping calculations that support reliable system performance and explicit design decisions
Resolve scope, requirement, and design inconsistencies before they affect downstream deliverables or site execution
Support the release quality of mechanical design deliverables through appropriate design reviews and data checks
Maintain and improve the CAD library of standard and custom models, parts, assemblies, and project technical information
What Success Looks Like Mechanical and pumping system design completed according to defined project scope and schedule
Systems commissioned on schedule with minimal rework
Reduced mechanical-related defects and field issues
Faster startup and smoother customer handover
Increased reuse of standardized pumping solutions
Positive customer feedback during installation and commissioning
Qualifications & Experience Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Experienced with AutoCAD and Solidworks.
Knowledge of mechanical systems including PVC piping, centrifugal pumps and or pool filtration systems.
Knowledge of material characteristics and selection, particularly for corrosive environments.
Understanding and familiarity with drafting standards,
ASME Y14.100 and GD&T; standards.
Knowledge of PDM or PLM systems would be considered an asset.
