===========================================================
INTERMEDIATE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, TELECOMMUNICATIONS TOWERS Georgetown, Ontario | Full-time, on-site | $70,000 to $90,000
===========================================================
Turris Group designs, builds, and maintains the physical infrastructure that carries Canada's wireless networks. Our engineering team analyzes, modifies, and certifies self-support towers, guyed masts, monopoles, and rooftop installations for carriers and tower owners across the country.
When a carrier needs to add a new antenna array to a thirty-year-old tower, our analysis determines whether the structure can carry it, and what has to be reinforced to make it safe. That is the work.
WHY THIS ROLE IS WORTH YOUR ATTENTION Tower engineering is a specialized discipline with a small practitioner base in Canada. The analysis is demanding, the codes are specific, and the engineers who develop real depth here become difficult to replace.
You will also see volume. Rather than three or four projects a year, you will work through a high number of structures, which is the fastest way to build genuine engineering judgment early in a career.
We do not require prior tower experience. We require solid structural fundamentals and the willingness to learn a specialized code environment quickly. Engineers joining us without a tower background typically produce independent analysis within two to four months.
WHAT YOU WILL DO You will perform structural analysis and design for communications structures under the direction of our senior engineers, with responsibility increasing as your judgment develops.
Analyze towers, monopoles, and rooftop installations to CSA S37 and TIA-222
Design reinforcement schemes for existing structures, with supporting calculations
Prepare mount analysis and mapping
Produce analysis reports and calculation packages for senior review
Coordinate with our drafters to produce sealed drawing sets
Take part in field inspections and structural condition assessments
Respond to client technical comments and revise designs accordingly
WHAT YOU NEED Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Three or more years of structural design experience
EIT registration with PEO and a transparent path to your P.Eng.
Working knowledge of steel design to CSA S16 and of NBCC or OBC load provisions
Competence with at least one structural analysis package
Careful, well-documented calculation habits. We check work, and we expect it to be checkable.
HELPFUL, BUT NOT REQUIRED Any exposure to towers, masts, transmission structures, or other slender steel structures
Familiarity with tnxTower, RISA-3D, SAP2000, or STAAD.Pro
WHAT WE OFFER $70,000 to $90,000, reviewed annually
Full health and dental benefits, and RRSP matching
Paid PEO fees and professional dues, and support through the P.Eng. licensure process
Structured mentorship from senior engineers who review your work and explain the reasoning behind their comments
Exposure to the full project cycle, including field work, rather than analysis in isolation
Real advancement. Our intermediate engineers move into senior roles as they earn them.
A NOTE ON LOCATION This role is on-site at our Georgetown office, four to five days a week.
Turris Group is an equal opportunity employer. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in any aspect of the selection process.
