We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Lab Technician II to support the day-to-day operations of our laboratory. In this role, you will perform laboratory testing and analysis, maintain equipment, ensure accurate documentation, and follow established safety and procedural standards. Working under the guidance of the Lab Manager, you will provide essential technical support to help the laboratory operate effectively and contribute to research, development, and scientific analysis.
This position is based at our West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada location at 3725 Boucherie Road.
Key Responsibilities
Develops production schedules in collaboration with the Winemakers and plans to meet Perform routine and complex laboratory tests with minimal supervision, following established protocols and guidelines
Assist in the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
Analyze and interpret test results, record data accurately and maintain detailed logs
Ensure that all lab work adheres to safety, health, and regulatory standards
Assist in the preparation of samples, reagents, and other materials required for testing
Collaborate with team members to support various research or production initiatives
Conduct quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results
Maintain inventory of lab supplies and ensure proper storage of materials and samples
Prepare reports and summaries for review by Lab Manager
Participate in the development and refinement of lab protocols
Record and report data from all analyses and tests in the prescribed time and form and maintain records in accordance with laboratory procedures
Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment, for example centrifuges, titrators, pipetting machines and pH meters
Operate analytical instruments
Conduct searches on identified topics relevant to the research
Make detailed observations; analyze data and interpret results
Perform limited troubleshooting and calibration of instruments
Log all samples for routine, non-routine and other tests
Use ICP-OES for elemental analysis
Prepare blind test samples and record
Responsible for lab cleaning, sample disposal, monthly inventory check, safety duties etc.
Collecting samples in the cellar
Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
Masters degree in a related scientific field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques, analytical testing, sample preparation, instrumentation, data processing, and applicable terminology
Strong understanding of WHMIS/SDS requirements and health, safety, and environmental standards
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, planning, and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of chemical, biological and physical testing and analyses including the preparation of materials,
equipment and samples
Ability to use analytical instrumentation
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, accountability, ethical conduct, and due diligence
Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Flexibility to work overtime, wide-ranging shifts, and extended hours during peak periods, including harvest
Legally eligible to work in Canada
Experience with ICP-OES, Thermo Gallery, GC-MS/MS, analytical instrument troubleshooting, research, is considered an asset
Microsoft Office is considered an asset

What We Offer
The pay range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000 per year along with the potential of earning a quarterly bonus.
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
