At JA British Columbia (JABC) is seeking a highly organized, cooperative, and relationship-focused Program Manager to lead the successful coordination and delivery of an assigned portfolio of educational programs and initiatives.

Our preference is for the successful candidate to reside in Kelowna or Prince George, B.C.; however, candidates based elsewhere in the province will also be considered. The role will support program delivery and relationship development in the area local to the successful candidate, while contributing to JABC programs across British Columbia as needed.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Programs, the Program Manager is responsible for the operational success of the programs within their portfolio, including achieving annual program goals, managing educator and volunteer relationships, coordinating program delivery and logistics, supporting community engagement, maintaining accurate program data, and ensuring educators, volunteers, partners, and students receive an exceptional experience.

The Program Manager works closely with educators, volunteers, school districts, community partners, and internal JABC teams to identify opportunities, strengthen engagement, and ensure programs are delivered effectively across British Columbia. The role may also lead or support virtual and in-person events, workshops, competitions, and other special initiatives connected to their program portfolio.

KeyResponsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Programs, your key responsibilities include:

Program Management & Delivery

Meet the goals confirmed each year for the programs in the portfolio, including overall program numbers, deliveries with particular segments, including underserved schools and communities, and other goals as confirmed with the Senior Manager, Programs.

Contribute to the strategic planning for assigned programs, including the development of prospective program opportunities within school districts and with community partners.

Manage program registrations and coordinate scheduling, logistics, materials, resources, and communications required for successful delivery.

Manage educator relationships throughout the program cycle, from registration and preparation through delivery and follow-up.

Ensure educators and classrooms are appropriately prepared and resourced for each program.

Monitor program progress throughout the year and proactively address gaps, challenges, or emerging opportunities.

Attend virtual and in-person program deliveries, meetings, and events as required to provide support and ensure a positive participant experience.

Coordinate with venues, caterers, audio-visual providers, and other third parties when external logistical support is required.

Promote relevant JABC awards, scholarships, programs, and additional opportunities to eligible students, youth, and educators.

Collect and respond to feedback from educators, volunteers, students, and partners to support continuous program improvement.

Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, schools, school districts, and community partners to support program participation and retention.

Conduct outreach to new, returning, and lapsed educators, identifying opportunities to expand JABC programming into new schools and communities, including underserved and equity-deserving communities.

Support educators throughout the program experience, respond to inquiries, and encourage continued participation and engagement in additional JABC programs.

Collaborate with internal teams on educator communications,



outreach campaigns, and program promotion initiatives.

Identify volunteer needs early enough to support successful recruitment, placement, and program delivery.

Work collaboratively with the Community Engagement team to identify and engage volunteers for program opportunities.

Coordinate volunteer assignments and ensure appropriate coverage for program deliveries.

Deliver volunteer orientations and training sessions, ensuring facilitators are prepared, informed, and equipped for successful delivery.

Maintain regular communication and build positive relationships with volunteers before, during, and following program delivery to support retention and continued engagement.

Support volunteer stewardship in collaboration with the Community Engagement team.

Data Management, Reporting & Administration

Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records, schedules, registrations, volunteer information, and reporting data within Salesforce, OneDrive, and other organizational systems.

Ensure program information and documentation are entered accurately and within established timelines.

Manage the collection of impact data, student feedback, and success stories for reporting and storytelling purposes.

Track and maintain consent forms and photo/video release documentation when required.

Support the preparation of program reports in collaboration with the Development and Events, Marketing and Communications teams.

Manage the preparation of materials and logistics for meetings, recognition events, community presentations, and other program-related activities.

Respond to incoming inquiries related to assigned programs and volunteer opportunities.

Community Engagement & Representation

Represent JABC professionally at schools, conferences, community events, celebrations, volunteer recognition activities, and other designated events.

Act as an ambassador for JABC and help build awareness of programs and opportunities among educators, volunteers, youth, and community partners.

Travel to schools, partner locations, and events in the local area as required.

Alumni Engagement

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Programs, and in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Impact Initiatives, support engagement initiatives for JABC alumni.

Be the lead contact for engagement of alumni for the programs in their portfolio to encourage their registration with our network and participation in alumni opportunities.

Work collaboratively with the Programs team and other JABC departments to support organizational goals and successful program delivery.

Participate in program planning, team meetings, cross-functional projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Share program insights, emerging needs, challenges, and opportunities with the Senior Manager, Programs and colleagues.

Contribute to a positive, team-oriented, and solutions-focused team environment.

Represent JABC professionally in all interactions with educators, volunteers, students, partners, and community stakeholders.

Other duties as required.

Qualifications
We’re seeking a highly organized,



relationship-focused skilled who enjoys managing multiple programs and priorities while working closely with educators, volunteers, youth, community partners, and colleagues.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and independent self-starter who takes ownership of their program portfolio, builds strong relationships, and can move comfortably between program planning, outreach, facilitation, event coordination, administration, and data management. They are adaptable, solutions-focused, and committed to creating positive experiences for the educators, volunteers, and young people JABC serves.

Other qualifications of the ideal candidate include:

Post-secondary education in education, community development, business administration, event management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

2–4 years of relevant experience in program management, program coordination, education, community engagement, event coordination, or a related field.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage programs, including planning, scheduling, logistics, relationship management, and follow-up.

Demonstrated experience in teaching or facilitating educational programs, preferably in a classroom or community setting.

Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with educators, volunteers, youth, community partners, and colleagues.

Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and respond proactively.

Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, Salesforce, or a similar CRM system.

Experience in organizing and facilitating educational experiences and meetings using virtual platforms such as Zoom and Teams.

A high level of digital literacy and comfort learning and using new technologies and online resources.

Understanding of the interests, needs, and challenges of young people and ability to engage effectively with youth.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing priorities and program needs.

Passion for youth development and a commitment to JABC’s mission.

Ability to travel to communities in the local area and attend occasional evening and weekend programs or events, as required.

Compensation and employment conditions

This is a permanent, full-time position, requiring 37.5 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and/or weekend work to support JABC events.

The salary range for this role is $55,000 to $63,000 annually. Starting salary will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and internal equity.

Employment is conditional upon the successful completion of reference checks and criminal record and vulnerable sector checks, as required by applicable BC laws and regulations.

Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
