We are seeking a full-time Senior Property Accountant to join our growing commercial real estate team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a deep understanding of property accounting for large-scale commercial assets. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting functions of a diverse real estate portfolio, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage full-cycle property accounting for a portfolio of large commercial properties, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Prepare and review CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and operating cost recoveries, tenant billings, and reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate general ledgers, sub-ledgers, and trial balances in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Ensure proper budgeting and forecasting, working closely with property management and asset management teams to provide strategic financial insights.
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals,



and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare and analyze variance reports, highlighting key trends and deviations from budgeted performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leasing, operations, and finance departments to support decision-making and performance optimization.
- Oversee accounts payable, tenant rent rolls, and cash receipts, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

- CPA designation (completed or in progress) strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of property accounting experience within commercial real estate (retail, office, or industrial portfolios).
- Strong proficiency with Yardi (required); experience with MRI or other property management software is an asset.
- Advanced skills in Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.
