On behalf of our leading private sector client Procom is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Developer, to support long-term contract work.
Contract term: 1 year with possibility of extension Work Location: Fully on-site in Ottawa Tasks - Design and implement BSP and bootloader features as part of a larger, collaborative software team - Build secure boot features that protect systems from the ground up - Write clear software design documents and participate actively in design reviews - Support product verification, validation, troubleshooting, and testing - Flag problems early and bring solutions to the table, not just the issues Required Experience - Strong experience designing and developing BSPs, Linux/QNX, and bootloaders, working across ECUs both new and legacy - Robust, proven experience in C and Assembly language - Comfort reading electronic schematics.
Solid knowledge of embedded operating systems and kernel level work - Hands-on skill with debugging tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers - Driver development experience across UART, I2C, SPI, and CAN/CAN FD - Sharp problem-solving instincts and a knack for intuitive debugging - Deep familiarity with ARM processors, both A series and M series - Strong cryptographic knowledge is a must, including RSA, DES, AES, and SHA-1. An understanding of the SHE specification, and experience with HSM or other SHE-based hardware security modules - Experience with eMMC and flash memory tied to real-world ECU stability work, plus NAND and NOR memory controllers - A track record that includes designing and implementing a custom bootloader - Comfort working with version control tools like Git or SVN
