POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and culturally sensitive Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our growing team. As a PSW with Daughter for Hire, you will provide companionship, personal care, and light home support to seniors in their homes throughout the GTA.

You will be the trusted voice, presence, and hands that help our clients maintain dignity, independence, and connection to their heritage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Companion Care & Personal Support:

- Provide friendly, respectful companionship during home visits
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADL): bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, meal prep, and eating
- Support clients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper techniques
- Communicate with clients in their preferred language

Light Housekeeping & Home Support:

- Light cleaning and tidying of common areas
- Laundry, dishes, and basic meal preparation
- Organize living spaces to support client safety and comfort

Specialized Care:

- Dementia care and communication with compassion and patience
- Cultural sensitivity: honor traditions, customs, and family values
- Build trust and provide emotional support
- Communicate with clients exclusively in their preferred language when needed

Professionalism & Communication:

- Document care provided and report to Daughter for Hire management
- Maintain confidentiality and respect client privacy
- Communicate clearly with families, coordinating care plans and responding to concerns

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS





✓ PSW certification or equivalent (Ontario preferred)
✓ Fluency in English PLUS one or more of: Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, or Tagalog (verbal and written)
✓ Current CPR/First Aid certification
✓ Valid police background check (Vulnerable Sector Check / VSC)
✓ Robust references from previous care experience
✓ Genuine passion for supporting seniors and their families

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

✓ Dementia or Alzheimer's care experience
✓ Prior companionship or senior care experience
✓ Familiarity with cultural customs and values of your language community
✓ Experience working with families or as a family caregiver
✓ Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
