Job Summary

Hands of Youth Canada is seeking motivated and compassionate Volunteer Tutors to support students through one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions. Tutors will work with learners of various ages and help strengthen their academic skills, confidence, and interest in learning.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education, enjoy working with youth, and are looking to gain practical experience in teaching, communication, and leadership.

Duties

- Deliver one-on-one and small-group tutoring sessions tailored to each student’s needs and learning style
- Teach subjects such as mathematics, English, and other academic areas as needed
- Prepare and implement effective lesson plans that encourage participation and understanding
- Clearly explain concepts, answer questions, and motivate students
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Create a positive, respectful, and encouraging learning environment
- Collaborate with program coordinators to identify student needs and adapt tutoring strategies accordingly
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, attendance, and student progress

Qualifications

- Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or experience working with youth is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to connect effectively with students from diverse backgrounds




- Experience in a classroom or educational environment is an asset
- Patience, reliability, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and academic needs
