Amnesty International Canada is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Activism and Campaigns Assistant to support the Activism & Movement Engagement team. This is an entry-level opportunity for a young person who is interested in human rights, social justice, community engagement, campaigning, and movement building. The successful candidate will provide coordination and administrative support to key activism and campaign initiatives, with a particular focus on Amnesty International’s Write for Rights campaign. The role will also support opportunities related to activist engagement, communications, campaign mobilization, digital community engagement, and the implementation of the People Power approach. This position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in national human rights campaigning while working collaboratively with staff, activists, volunteers, and community partners. WHAT YOU’LL DO

Key Responsibilities

1. Write for Rights Campaign Support

Support the planning and coordination of Write for Rights activities and initiatives. Assist with tracking campaign activities, events, deadlines, and deliverables. Support communication with activists, volunteers, local groups, and other campaign participants. Assist in preparing campaign resources, materials, and participant communications. Support the collection and organization of campaign participation data and outcomes. Help coordinate follow-up communications with campaign participants. Assist in documenting lessons learned and recommendations following campaign activities. 2. Activist Engagement and Mobilization

Support outreach and engagement with activists, volunteers, and supporters. Assist in identifying opportunities to strengthen participation in Amnesty’s campaigns and activism initiatives. Help coordinate online and in-person engagement activities. Support communications related to activism opportunities, events, and calls to action. Assist with maintaining accurate contact lists and engagement records.



Help identify and share stories, successes, and examples of activist participation. 3. Campaign and Communications Support

Assist with drafting and preparing campaign communications, including emails, newsletters, and social media content. Support the development and organization of campaign resources and toolkits. Assist with internal coordination between Activism, Campaigns, Communications, and other relevant teams. Support research and information gathering related to campaign issues and audiences. Assist with monitoring campaign engagement and identifying emerging trends. 4. People Power and Community Engagement

Support initiatives that strengthen community participation and movement engagement. Assist with onboarding and engaging participants in relevant digital community spaces and platforms. Help organize resources and information for activists and community members. Support opportunities for peer learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Assist with gathering feedback from activists and supporters to inform future engagement strategies. 5. Administrative and Coordination Support

Support meeting coordination, including scheduling, agendas, notes, and action tracking. Maintain organized campaign files, documents, and shared resources. Assist with event logistics and participant coordination. Support reporting, data collection, and tracking of activities. Undertake other related duties in support of the Activism & Movement Engagement team. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE

An interest in human rights, social justice, activism, community organizing, or campaigning. Some previous experience through employment, volunteering, internships, student leadership,



or community involvement. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team. Experience using Microsoft Office and digital communication tools. An interest in learning about campaigning, mobilization, and movement building. An understanding of or interest in equity, anti-racism, inclusion, and human rights. Asset

The following would be considered an asset: Experience volunteering or participating in campaigns or community initiatives. Experience supporting events or community engagement activities. Familiarity with social media and digital communications. Experience working with volunteers or diverse communities. Knowledge of Amnesty International’s human rights work and mission. Experience with data tracking, CRM systems, or digital community platforms. Key Competencies

Ability to work in a dynamic campaign workplace. This is a part-time, five-month contract position, working 25 hours per week at $24.00 per hour. The successful candidate may be required to work occasional evenings or weekends to support campaign events or activism activities, with advance notice and in accordance with organizational policies.
