GP Strategies is looking to expand our project and program manager contractor pool in Canada for projects later in 2026. We are looking for individuals with proven experience working as a contract project or program manager supporting content development and technology-enabled projects.

PROJECT MANAGER – TECHNOLOGY DELIVERY & IMPLEMENTATION

SUMMARY The Project Manager – Technology Delivery & Implementation is the focal point for content development and technology-enabled projects, ensuring delivery to scope, plan, and budget.

This role is a Project Manager first, with demonstrated capability in leading projects involving technical complexity, system integration, and evolving requirements. The role is responsible for ensuring that technical inputs are effectively understood, structured, and translated into clear delivery plans and stakeholder communication.

The Project Manager does not perform technical design or development activities, but plays a critical role in driving alignment between Project Management, technical teams, and client stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Delivery & Planning

Lead end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring alignment to scope, timelines, budget, and client expectations

Create detailed project plans that integrate both delivery and technical workstreams

Apply appropriate delivery methodologies based on project needs, including Agile, waterfall, and hybrid approaches, with a working understanding of key Agile processes and practices

Ensure technical dependencies, constraints, and assumptions are clearly reflected in plans, including by drawing out and validating input from technical leads and stakeholders

Manage multiple concurrent and interdependent projects effectively

Managing Complexity & Ambiguity

Operate confidently in environments where requirements may be incomplete, evolving, or ambiguous

Build clarity and structured plans from high-level or unclear inputs

Identify gaps in scope, documentation, or ownership, and proactively drive resolution

Support alignment across interdependent workstreams, teams, and projects

Technology Delivery Coordination

Work closely with technical teams to ensure delivery approaches, dependencies, and timelines are clearly understood

Ensure technical documentation, assumptions, and risks are captured and reflected in delivery planning

Incorporate technical inputs into project plans, client updates, and reporting

Note:

This role does not replace technical ownership or accountability for design, development, or engineering decisions.

Translation & Communication

Translate technical concepts, updates, and challenges into clear, structured, and client-friendly communication

Ensure all stakeholders understand progress, risks, and next steps, regardless of technical background

Consolidate and structure questions to enable efficient communication with technical teams

Reduce communication friction through clarity, consistency, and structured updates

Stakeholder & Client Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Enable confident client communication on projects involving technical complexity

Ensure appropriate technical representation is included in client discussions where required

Support teams in communicating complex topics clearly and consistently

Governance, Process & Delivery Discipline

Establish clear ways of working across Project Management and technical teams

Define roles, responsibilities, and escalation pathways at project initiation

Ensure effective use of delivery tools (e.g., Jira) with clear ownership, status, and next steps

Maintain structured reporting cadence and clear project documentation

Risk, Issue & Dependency Management

Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and blockers proactively

Translate technical risks into clear business impacts and mitigation plans

Ensure issues are escalated appropriately and resolved in a timely manner

Testing & Implementation Coordination

Ensure clarity on testing ownership, scope, and timelines

Coordinate readiness for deployment and implementation activities

Ensure delivery stages (including testing and deployment) are clearly planned and communicated

Financial & Commercial Management

Forecast and manage project costs in line with budgets and resource plans

Ensure technical delivery considerations are reflected in financial planning and forecasting

Support invoicing and revenue tracking aligned with delivery progress

Continuous Improvement

Capture lessons learned relating to technology delivery, communication, and process gaps

Contribute to improving ways of working between Project Management and technical teams

Support the evolution of best practices for managing complex and technology-enabled projects

AI-Enabled Delivery & Continuous Improvement

Leverage GP Strategies approved AI-enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot and other authorised platforms) to support project planning, documentation, communication, and reporting across the project lifecycle

Improve efficiency by using AI to streamline routine project management activities, including status reporting, meeting summaries, action tracking, and documentation creation

Enhance the clarity and consistency of stakeholder communication by using AI tools to structure updates, summarise information, and translate complex or technical concepts into clear, accessible language

Support data-informed decision-making by using approved tools to analyse project data, identify risks, surface trends, and highlight dependencies

Apply AI tools to help structure ambiguous or incomplete inputs into clear plans, actions, and deliverables

Contribute to the standardisation and adoption of AI-enabled ways of working within the PMO, including sharing best practices, prompts, and lessons learned

Ensure all use of AI tools complies with GP Strategies policies on data security, confidentiality, and responsible AI usage

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

Strong project management fundamentals across planning, governance, and delivery

Proven ability to operate effectively in complex and ambiguous project environments

Robust communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable language

Experience managing or supporting projects with technical or system-based components, including an understanding of how delivery phases and dependencies impact project planning and execution

Strong stakeholder management across cross-functional and distributed teams

Confidence to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and openly identify where clarification is needed

Working knowledge of technology delivery environments, tools, and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Jira, system implementations), with the ability to support clear user stories and unambiguous success criteria where needed

Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with adaptability, sound judgement, and effective conflict resolution skills

*Ideally contract candidates will carry liability insurance.
