Position SummaryRotech Pumps is seeking a technically robust and customer-focused Technical Sales Support Engineer to support our Regional Sales Managers, distributors, OEMs, consultants, and end users across domestic and international markets.
This position combines pump application engineering, technical sales support, customer service, order execution, and field support. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of centrifugal pumps, hydraulics, mechanical equipment, and industrial applications, along with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and sales teams.
The role will also provide technical guidance and training to Application Engineers, sales personnel, distributors, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide detailed technical and application support to Regional Managers, distributors, consultants, OEMs, and end users.
- Assist customers with pump selection, system design, hydraulic calculations, pump performance, operating conditions, and application requirements.
- Review customer specifications, datasheets, RFQs, and technical requirements and recommend appropriate pump solutions.
- Respond quickly and accurately to a high volume of technical inquiries while effectively prioritizing urgent projects and customer requirements.
- Prepare and review technical quotations, pump selections, performance curves, datasheets, and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with the sales team to ensure quotations are followed up and provide technical assistance required to convert opportunities into orders.
- Maintain and review the quotation and applications database to ensure opportunities receive timely follow-up.
- Communicate directly with customers and distributors to understand their requirements and recommend appropriate technical and commercial solutions.
- Conduct customer visits and provide onsite technical and sales support when required.
- Support the replacement of obsolete or competitor products by reviewing:
- Pump dimensions
- Hydraulic performance
- Materials of construction
- Mechanical configuration
- Installation requirements
- Operating conditions
- Develop accurate cross-reference and replacement recommendations for competitor pumps and obsolete equipment.
- Support non-standard and engineered pump requirements by coordinating with Engineering, Production, Sourcing, Quality, and other departments.
- Prepare technical documentation and records for non-catalogue and custom-engineered products.
- Participate in technical discussions during bid evaluation, clarification meetings, and contract negotiations.
- Provide post-order technical support and assist with order execution to ensure customer specifications and contractual requirements are met.
- Coordinate with production and shop-floor teams to help ensure equipment is manufactured and delivered according to committed schedules.
- Assist in resolving technical issues related to manufacturing, testing, assembly, or customer requirements.
- Conduct product and application training for:
- Regional Sales Managers
- Distributors
- Application Engineers
- Customers and end users
- Participate in distributor meetings, customer presentations, technical seminars, and training sessions.
- Research complementary products and technologies that may improve pump performance, system reliability, or provide additional sales opportunities.
- Attend industry trade shows, exhibitions, customer meetings,
and technical events as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience in the pump, rotating equipment, fluid handling, industrial equipment, or process equipment industry is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of centrifugal pumps and hydraulic principles.
- Ability to read and understand:
- Pump performance curves
- Engineering drawings
- General arrangement drawings
- Technical specifications
- Customer datasheets
- Familiarity with pump selection, system head calculations, NPSH, materials of construction, mechanical seals, motors, and pump accessories is an asset.
- Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to customers, distributors, sales personnel, and manufacturing teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple quotations and projects simultaneously.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in developing customer relationships and generating sales.
- Ability and willingness to travel for customer visits, distributor support, training, and trade shows when required.

You should be comfortable discussing a customer's pumping system, reviewing specifications, selecting equipment, preparing a technical solution, supporting the quotation, working with manufacturing during execution, and helping the sales team successfully close and deliver the order.
