As Canada’s only polytechnic university, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is the fourth largest university in the province of British Columbia and serves communities in the South Fraser region and beyond. Within KPU, the Faculty of Science has over 1,500 full-time students and over 200 faculty members and instructors from across the natural and applied sciences. Faculty of Science includes nine departments and over 30 programs at the undergraduate level, with offerings at all four KPU campuses. The faculty is also home to Canada Research Chair: Dr. Cayley Velazquez and Sherman Jen Research Chair, Dr. Paul Adams.
The Faculty of Science offers experiential learning through hands-on curriculum and co-ops and research collaboration opportunities with KPU’s Institute for Sustainable Horticulture (ISH), Institute of Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS), and Applied Genomics Center (AGC). As well, our faculty is home to over a hectare of horticulture field lab and working farm and a state-of-the art brewery, which has been recognized internationally and locally, winning BC Brewery of the Year in 2019.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Faculty of Science is currently seeking applications for Health Science instructors to join the Department of Biological and Health Sciences Qualified Faculty List for the Health Science Degree Program.
We welcome applications from qualified instructors with research expertise or industry/sector experience in health policy, administration and leadership, allied health, business, and/or clinical research and development.
Experience in the areas of health informatics, analytics, data science, and precision medicine are an asset. Courses may include Introduction to Health Science and upper-level topics such as Health Business, Health Program Planning and Evaluation, Populations and Policy, Applications to Health Science, Pharmacology, Nutrition, Health and Aging, and Critical Evaluation.
Health Science is a recently developed and rapidly growing undergraduate program offered within the Department of Biological and Health Sciences at KPU. We provide an experiential learning approach in which students gain foundational knowledge in the basic sciences and practical knowledge in clinical, public, community and population health to understand current and emerging health issues and the policies, systems, and technology used to advance health and wellness.
We offer a Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree, along with honours, minor, and co-op options. Successful applicants will work collaboratively with department members and colleagues across the broader KPU community to continue shaping this exciting program.

QUALIFICATIONS
We seek a scholar who possesses, at minimum, a Master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in health science, public health, public administration, human biology, or another equivalent field. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as recent post-secondary teaching or equivalent research, scholarly, or professional experience demonstrating currency in a health science related discipline. We are looking for a scholar that is excited to develop connections to industry and/or community partners to advance course-based experiential learning opportunities.

- Statement of teaching philosophy (maximum one page)
- Description of how you will incorporate your research, professional experience and/or network to support undergraduate teaching (maximum one page)
- Current curriculum vitae that includes information about previous courses taught and/or relevant research, scholarly, or professional experience
- Names of three referees willing to comment on your ability to contribute to a degree-granting Biological and Health Sciences department.

*SALARY INFORMATION:
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.
