Position Summary
AIS WSI LLC. is seeking a Quality Control Welding Inspector (Level II) to support quality assurance and quality control activities during a major industrial turnaround (TA) / outage.
Reporting to the Quality Control Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing inspections and verification activities across welding, piping, pressure equipment repairs. The role requires a strong field presence and close coordination with construction, maintenance, operations, NDE personnel, and client representatives to ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
This position is well suited for a hands-on inspector who thrives in a fast-paced outage environment and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining a solid commitment to safety, quality, and schedule performance.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Quality Control
- Perform visual inspections of welding, piping, and pressure equipment repair activities.
- Verify work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, client specifications, approved procedures, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Conduct in-process and final inspections and accurately document inspection results.
- Review drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality requirements prior to execution of work.
- Coordinate with NDE personnel and ensure inspection activities are completed as required.
- Monitor preservation, storage, and handling of materials and equipment where applicable.
- Verify that monitoring and measuring equipment is properly calibrated and fit for use.
- Notify client representatives and third-party inspectors of required hold points and witness points.
Turnaround / Outage Support
- Provide inspection coverage for critical-path turnaround activities.
- Coordinate inspection activities to support efficient execution and minimize schedule impacts.
- Work closely with construction, maintenance, and client teams to identify and resolve quality concerns in a timely manner.
- Support execution of piping modifications, pressure equipment repairs, and maintenance-related work scopes.
Quality Documentation
- Complete inspection reports and quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review quality records to ensure completeness and compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain inspection records, weld logs, NDE documentation, and other quality-related records.
- Assist with the preparation and review of quality turnover documentation as required.
- Ensure documentation is organized and readily available for audits, client review, and project closeout.
Non-Conformance Management
- Identify, document, and report non-conforming work or materials.
- Generate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required.
- Support corrective actions and follow-up verification activities.
- Ensure non-conforming materials are properly identified, segregated, and controlled.
Required Qualifications
Certifications
- CWB Level II Welding Inspector Certification (required).
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a CWB Level II Welding Inspector in industrial construction, maintenance, turnaround, or outage environments.
- Experience inspecting welding, piping, pressure equipment repairs, and bolted connections.
- Experience working in refinery, petrochemical, oil sands, power generation, mining, or other heavy industrial environments.
- Previous turnaround/outage experience is strongly preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of quality control principles and industrial inspection practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, isometrics, and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, welding procedures, and quality requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Job Details
- Schedule: Turnaround / Outage
- Travel: Direct Fly-in/Fly-out (YEG or YYC), can accommodate from elsewhere in the country.
- Camp Accommodation: Provided by Owner
Pay: $75.00-$100.00 per hour
Expected hours: 72.0 – 91.0 per week
Work Location: In person
