Penfield Academy is a growing childcare and learning centre in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Our approach harmoniously blends the time-honoured Montessori philosophy with nature-inspired and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) learning. We are looking for dynamic, passionate and qualified RECEs, ECAs and Montessori-credentialed educators to join our team as Supply Teachers.

As a team member, you will be part of providing a quality, inquiry-based program that will help shape and impact the early learning of children.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

- Implement a Montessori-inspired, STEAM and nature-rich program that provides a variety of child-initiated and adult-supported experiences for each child to thrive mentally, emotionally, physically and socially
- Plan, organize and implement a warm, caring environment for each child to grow, and be committed to developing strategies to meet the needs of each child
- Support purposeful, hands-on learning across the Montessori curriculum areas — Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Cultural Studies — as well as our MakerField and RoboThink programs
- Partner with families to achieve the best results for each individual child
- Ensure that the Centre and Program meet the standards set by the Ministry of Education

WHO YOU ARE — REGISTERED EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (RECE):

- Early Childhood Education Diploma
- Must be registered and a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)





WHO YOU ARE — EARLY CHILDHOOD ASSISTANT (ECA):

- High School Diploma. Child & Youth Work/Child & Youth Degree/Diploma is an asset
- Experience working with children

WHO YOU ARE — MONTESSORI EDUCATOR:

- Montessori teaching credential (AMI, AMS, or MACTE-recognized)
- Experience guiding children in a Montessori prepared environment

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

- Legally able to work in Canada
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification
- Valid Police Records Check with vulnerable sector screen (requested upon job offer)
- Up-to-date immunization
- Food Handlers Certificate, an asset
- A person who loves working with young children
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative easily
- Reliable, dependable, and have a solid work ethic
- Able to plan age-appropriate activities for children
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with children, their families and other childcare staff
- Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, pushing, carrying and pulling
- Must be able to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, year round, and may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold
- Ability to work within a team
