JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and experienced live-in home child care provider to care for a child with Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder in a private household in Calgary, Alberta.

The caregiver will provide full-time supervision, structured care, and developmental support in a safe and nurturing home environment.

? MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Providing full-time care and supervision for a child with high-support autism needs
Ensuring constant safety supervision due to risk of wandering (elopement) and behavioural challenges
Assisting with daily living activities including dressing, bathing, feeding, and hygiene routines
Supporting structured routines and behavioural strategies as guided by parents and healthcare professionals
Engaging the child in developmentally appropriate play, sensory activities, and learning exercises
Following therapy plans provided by occupational therapists, speech therapists, and behavioural specialists
Maintaining a calm, structured, and supportive environment
Preparing nutritious meals and snacks for the child
Accompanying the child to therapy appointments, medical visits, and community activities
Monitoring and reporting daily behaviour, activities, and progress to parents
Ensuring the home environment remains safe, organized, and child-friendly
Performing light housekeeping duties related to child care only

Live-in position (private furnished bedroom provided)

Full-time position: 35–40 hours per week

May require occasional evenings or weekends
Long-term employment opportunity

Start date: As soon as LMIA and work permit are approved

? REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Secondary school education or equivalent
Minimum 1–2 years experience in childcare or caregiving
Experience with children with special needs or autism is strongly preferred
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to follow structured care plans and instructions
Strong communication, patience, and reliability
Ability to live in employer’s home

Training in early childhood education, caregiving, or developmental support
Experience working with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
Knowledge of behavioural support techniques
Experience in home-based caregiving or nanny roles

Competitive hourly wage :$20 to 24 per hour based on Candidate's experience.
