This is inspectional, regulatory and enforcement patrol work to ensure compliance with provincial statutes, municipal by-laws and regulations. This position includes community safety patrols of the downtown core, parks and trails and liaising with local residents and businesses to identify and address street level bylaw infractions. The work involves extensive public contact and community liaison requiring exercise of considerable independent of judgement, tact and diplomacy, all which is performed within policy, by-law and regulation limits. The more difficult, controversial problems are referred to a supervisor who reviews work performance for conformance with established policies and procedures.

The Training Manual Requirements pre-qualifications for this position are:

- Foundations of Team-oriented Conflict Resolution (1.5 credits) or equivalent course from recognized post-secondary institute




- Business Communications or Professional Writing Course (3 credits)
- Successful completion of the Justice Institute Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate, Level I and II
- Two (2) years full-time equivalent experience as a Bylaw Enforcement Officer

The Class Specification requires a Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia – Class 5, and are a job requirement.
