In this dynamic role, you will inspire and empower young learners through engaging STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities, robotics projects, and innovative AI hackathons.

Access2Innovate Foundation was awarded a Scale AI (https://www.scaleai.ca/) grant for a national youth AI Hackathon (https://hack.access2innovate.com/). It's an excellent opportunity to put your technical skills to work and to helping with outreach to schools across Canada.

Your enthusiasm and expertise will foster a vibrant learning environment where children and youth develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a passion for technology. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the next generation of innovators while working in a collaborative and energetic setting.

This term position goes from September, 2026 until the end of June, 2027.

Duties

- Design and deliver hands-on STEM and robotics lessons tailored to children and youth
- Lead and coordinate First Robotics competitions, guiding students through building and programming robots for competitive events
- Organize and facilitate AI-focused hackathons that challenge participants to develop creative solutions using artificial intelligence technologies
- Provide tutoring and mentorship to students, fostering confidence and curiosity in STEM subjects
- Develop age-appropriate curriculum materials that promote active learning and teamwork
- Support the planning and execution of special events, workshops, and community outreach initiatives related to robotics and AI
- Assist with our Wednesday evening open lab and games night
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment that encourages participation from children of diverse backgrounds

Work hours - 37.5 hours per week

- Mondays - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (7.5 hrs)
- Tuesdays - 10:00 am to 6:00 pm (7.5 hrs)
- Wednesdays - 11:30 am to 7:30 pm (7.5 hrs)
- Thursdays:



10:00 - 6:00 pm (7.5 hrs)
- Saturdays - 10:00 am - 6:00 pm (7.5 hrs)

Work location Access2Innovate Foundation Shipyards, 125 Victory Ship Way, North Vancouver, BC V7L 0G5

Qualifications

- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching STEM subjects, especially robotics, electronics, and coding
- Background in working with children and youth preferred
- Robust knowledge of robotics platforms such as VEX Robotics, or similar tools with an emphasis on First Robotics
- Experience organizing or leading hackathons or competitive STEM events is a plus
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage young learners effectively
- Creativity, resourcefulness, strategic thinking, team player, and strong leadership skills are essential
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups and skill levels, including working with neurodiverse children and youth
- Passion for inspiring children and youth in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics fields
- Requires a criminal record check and first aid certification. First Aid training can be provided if you don't currently have
- A Class 4 unrestricted drivers license is a plus as we have a passenger van that is used for picking kids up at school and for travel to robotics competitions. In the event that you help with picking up kids from schools, you will be compensated at a higher rate

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
