Headquartered in Toronto, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) is responsible for investing in new infrastructure projects. The CIB’s mission is to work with provincial, territorial, municipal, federal, Indigenous and private sector investor partners to transform the way infrastructure is planned, financed and delivered in Canada. The Analyst, Business Systems, is based in Toronto and reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, requires deep expertise in data, analytics and modern data architecture using Microsoft Fabric.

This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, data engineering, analytics and platform architecture, ensuring business requirements are translated into scalable, governed and trusted Fabric-based data products. The analyst will work across the full delivery lifecycle—from discovery and problem framing to data design collaboration, backlog refinement, testing and production support—ensuring data products meet quality, security, governance and performance expectations. The ideal candidate will ideally have an undergraduate degree in information systems or a related field, over three years of experience in data analysis and reporting and be self-directed.

Business and requirements analysis (core BSA) Lead discovery and analysis sessions to understand business objectives, reporting needs, KPIs and operational processes Translate business needs into: Clear acceptance criteria aligned to data outcomes Business and data requirements documentation Business glossaries and metric definitions ~ Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and Fabric delivery teams Microsoft Fabric data architecture enablement Experience with data modelling:



analytical data structures Data grain and aggregation strategies Experience contributing to enterprise data warehouse design, including: Historical data handling Data retention and archival strategies Query performance considerations from a modelling perspective Transformation logic and business rules Data lineage and traceability across Fabric workloads Data engineering (lakehouse, notebooks, pipelines) Data warehouse (T-SQL analytics) Microsoft Fabric and Power BI–specific skills Experience with Power BI semantic models, including: Workspace design for business domains Shared OneLake data products Strong understanding of self-service BI and analytics concepts Experience enabling business users to create their own reports and dashboards using governed datasets Ability to define semantic layer requirements that balance flexibility and control Business-friendly data definitions Solid data literacy and ability to explain data concepts to non-technical audiences Import trade-offs from a business perspective Ability to support Power BI report validation and UAT with business stakeholders Governance and controls for self-service analytics Enterprise data governance standards Security,



privacy and access controls Maintain business glossaries and metadata Ensure discoverability through Microsoft Purview ~ Help prevent metric duplication and "multiple versions of the truth" by enforcing standardized definitions and datasets Undergraduate degree in information systems, business, finance, computer science or equivalent Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including: Data Factory pipelines Two to four years of experience in data analysis and reporting, preferably with Power BI Knowledge of AI/ML architectures, Generative AI, LLMs, vector databases, and MLOps/LLMOps practices. Support AI and machine learning initiatives through data preparation, feature engineering, validation, and performance monitoring.

Experience evaluating the effectiveness of AI-enabled solutions and recommend continuous improvements. Strong proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M) and data modelling concepts Strong SQL skills and experience with data modelling for analytics Good understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing principles Experience with Microsoft Purview, an asset Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate),an asset Knowledge of Azure services (Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory, etc.) Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines (Azure DevOps, Git) Familiarity with governance and security best practices in Power BI Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience in agile methodologies and project management Bilingual English/French, an asset Don’t forget to follow us on LinkedIn and on X (formerly Twitter) @cib_en or @bic_fra.
