This is a full‑time, temporary position offered for an anticipated period of up to twelve (12) months.

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining accurate property ownership, assessment, taxation, and records while providing excellent service to ratepayers, financial institutions, lawyers, and internal departments. The position supports municipal assessment and taxation operations through data management, tax administration, reporting, regulatory compliance, and coordination of property, customer, and address information across multiple corporate systems. The role also provides backup support for property tax administration functions and assists with tax recovery, assessment updates, and public communications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service & Correspondence

- Provide correspondence to all requests from ratepayers, finance institutions, lawyers, and internal staff.

Land Ownership & Property Records
- Process and maintain land ownership title changes received from the Land Titles Office.
- Record and maintain updated rural addresses to both finance and assessment software.
- Using the information from development permits, enter new buildings into Assessment and Taxation systems, as well as including drawings into appropriate systems for the Assessors.

Database & System Administration
- Maintain and coordinate the customer database used by all departments in the County including coordination for GIS information and Fire Pro.
- Maintain the owners and tax agents for all industrial and linear tax accounts.
- Import client and address information into finance and assessment software to maintain accuracy.

Property Tax Administration Support
- Provide backup to Property Tax Administrator and ensure cross training is kept up to date. These duties include:
- Responding to requests for hard copy tax certificates.
- Assessment adjustments to the taxation database resulting from amended assessment.
- Supporting the property tax prepayment plan.




- Preparing memo requests for journal entries to the tax roll.
- Preparing annual tax arrears list pursuant to the Municipal Government Act including public auction, sale of tax recovery properties, final acquisition, notification processes and arrears arrangements.
- Balance the GL for Month End

Reporting & Communications
- Submit all data and reports required by the expected deadlines.
- Coordinate with Communications for all information, advertising, brochures, website, media and bulk mailing.

Other Duties
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Assessment & Taxation Manager.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

- High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years of related administrative experience is preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, Office Administration, Local Government Administration, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience in municipal assessment, taxation, property tax administration, finance, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience working with computerized assessment, taxation, financial, GIS, or records management systems is an asset.

- Strong organizational, analytical, and administrative skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to explain complex assessment, taxation, and property-related information clearly and professionally.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines,



and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 applications and general computer systems.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

Preferred Skills
- Experience in a municipal government or public sector environment.
- Knowledge of municipal assessment and taxation legislation, processes, and practices.
- Experience with property tax, assessment, financial management, GIS, or customer relationship management systems.
- Familiarity with the Municipal Government Act and tax recovery processes is considered an asset.
- Experience coordinating data across multiple software platforms and departments.

Conditions of Employment
- Maintain a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driver's abstract

Working Conditions

- This is a full‑time, temporary position offered for an anticipated period of up to twelve (12) months.
- The normal work schedule is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Regular hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- The position is based in a skilled, business-casual office environment, requiring extended periods of sitting, use of a computer, and regular interaction with staff, elected officials, and the public.
