About Us

Obsidian Athletic Club is a 20,000 sq. ft. premium hybrid fitness facility offering boxing, pole fitness, red light therapy, tanning, aqua beds, nutrition services, and a full-service gym environment.

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive Assistant General Manager who can support daily operations and confidently step into the Acting General Manager role when needed.

Sales & Premium Membership Tours.

- Lead by example in membership sales, with a robust focus on Premium membership conversions and upgrades.
- Conduct professional, personalized club tours that identify the prospect’s goals before presenting membership options.
- Demonstrate and confidently explain all Premium amenities, including recovery services, group fitness, boxing, and other location-specific benefits.
- Sell the experience and value of Brand Image and Premium service, rather than simply listing amenities or focusing on price.
- Ask effective discovery questions to understand a prospect’s training habits, recovery needs, schedule, goals, and previous gym experience.
- Tailor each tour to the prospect instead of delivering the same scripted tour to every person.
- Clearly explain membership pricing, sign-up fees, Gym Improvement Fees, contract terms, and included benefits.
- Confidently present Base vs. Premium options and explain the additional value received by upgrading.

Responsibilities Operations & Leadership

- Support the General Manager with daily operations.
- Act as Acting GM during GM absences.
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, and member experience.




- Set the example in daily operational tasks:
- Washroom cleanliness
- Stocking fridges
- Laundry management
- Gym floor cleanliness and dusting
- Identify issues, solve them independently, and report once resolved.

Staff Support

- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising staff.
- Schedule and manage staff using Employment Hero, Microsoft, Notion, and Gym Master.
- Provide coaching and maintain professional communication with team members.

Administrative Management

- Implement, manage, and support admin staff scheduling across all departments.
- Operate Gym Master for billing, memberships, access control, and bookings.
- Use Employment Hero, Microsoft Workspace, Notion, META and Canva to support administrative workflows.
- Send invoices and payment summaries to contractors and personal trainers.
- Process membership changes, contract adjustments, freezes, and cancellations.
- Troubleshoot Software-related issues (Gym Master errors, access problems, billing discrepancies).

Marketing & Creative

- Create Meta (Facebook/Instagram) marketing campaigns.
- Design posters, signage, and digital promotional assets using Canva.
- Support promotional initiatives and club events.

Member Experience

- Handle escalated member concerns with professionalism and clarity.
- Support front desk operations during peak hours.
- Enforce club policies consistently and respectfully.




- The ideal Assistant General Manager will have a strong understanding of BC Employment Standards, including scheduling requirements, breaks, progressive discipline, documentation practices, and the legal considerations around performance management and termination. You should feel confident handling staff attendance issues, member complaints, contract disputes, and policy enforcement while maintaining professionalism and protecting the business. Experience investigating workplace incidents and ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC harassment and safety guidelines is an asset.

What We’re Looking For

- 1–3 years of supervisory or management experience (fitness or hospitality preferred).
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Experience with Meta Ads (or willingness to learn).
- Proficiency with Canva for signage and promotional materials.
- Experience with Gym Master, ABC Ignite, or similar systems is an asset.
- Confident decision-maker, comfortable acting as Manager on Duty.
- Organized, reliable, and proactive in daily tasks.
