Our client is a well-established Montréal law firm specializing in business law, serving a clientele primarily composed of SMEs, entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, and industry-leading companies.
The firm’s practice is built on long-standing business relationships, a robust volume of repeat business, and a high level of referrals, particularly from professionals within the business community. The firm regularly handles complex, high-value mandates, often competing directly with large firms, while maintaining a pragmatic, accessible, and highly personalized approach.
The Role
As part of its continued development, the firm is seeking to recruit a Business Law Lawyer with a minimum of ten years of private practice experience. The selected lawyer will play a key role within the practice, working closely with the partners and actively contributing to the firm’s long-term evolution, with a view toward eventual partnership.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for,
among other things:
- Advising a business clientele primarily composed of SMEs on complex corporate and commercial matters
- Working on strategic business law mandates requiring a high level of legal analysis
- Acting as a trusted advisor to long-standing clients, with a focus on building durable business relationships
- Participating in legal and strategic discussions related to assigned files
- Collaborating closely with partners and the internal team in a non-hierarchical, collaborative environment
- Contributing, according to interest, to the firm’s business development activities
- Taking an active role in the life of the firm and its medium- and long-term planning
Requirements
- Member in good standing of the Québec Bar
- Ten years of experience in business law acquired in private practice
- No requirement to bring an existing book of business
- Strong interest in working with SMEs and entrepreneurs
- Entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to grow into a partnership role
- Strong legal skills, both theoretical and practical
- Autonomy, sound professional judgment, and a strong sense of responsibility
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
- Functional bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset
