The Baker is responsible for the preparation, baking, monitoring, and presentation of products to support an Exceptional Guest Experience through the delivery of quality products and service. The Baker plays an important role in ensuring products are prepared fresh, accurately, and according to Tim Hortons standards.
Hospitality & Guest Service
- Provides key visual cues for guests that create a positive first impression, including wearing proper career wear that is clean and neatly pressed and maintaining a clean and inviting restaurant environment.
- Follows the Always Fresh procedures to ensure coffee and products are fresh, accurate, and available according to established shelf-life standards.
- Prepares and maintains an appealing showcase with the required quantity and variety of products to ensure proper product selection is available for guests.
- Enhances the guest experience through a friendly attitude, attentive behaviour, and following the S.E.T. Principles: Smile, Eye Contact, Thank You.
- Uses proper procedures to ensure the accuracy of every order and prepares and finishes products according to quality standards.
- Supports speed-of-service targets by working quickly and efficiently to prepare products and meet Guest needs.
- Promptly executes service recovery for any Guest concerns or complaints by making it right with the Guest, regardless of involvement in the issue.
- Listens carefully to guests and apologizes appropriately in the case of a complaint.
- Assists in serving guests in the Restaurant Front when necessary.
Restaurant Operations
- Follows all Operations standards and guidelines for the preparation of products and operation of equipment according to training and operational materials provided.
- Prepares baked goods and food products as required, including donuts, muffins, cookies, breads, eggs, sausages, bagels, and other products assigned.
- Operates ovens, proofers, egg cookers, and other food preparation equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitors product levels and prepares appropriate quantities throughout the day to maintain freshness while minimizing food waste.
- Records prepared items and waste accurately on the production sheet.
- Ensures all baked and prepared products meet Tim Hortons quality, appearance, quantity, and freshness standards.
- Receives and responds to showcase and product needs from the Restaurant Front.
- Regularly takes temperatures of required products, refrigerators, and freezers and records information in the Time & Temperature Log.
- Maintains proper product rotation using the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) process and ensures products are properly dated.
- Organizes and maintains baking, production, refrigerator, freezer, and storage areas.
- Keeps equipment, work surfaces, and production areas clean and sanitized throughout the shift.
- Sweeps and mops floors when necessary.
- Assists with other restaurant duties as assigned, including taking customer orders and preparing hot beverages when required.
Policies & Procedures
- Follows all restaurant policies, procedures, and standards.
- Supports a clean, organized, and fully stocked environment that is ready for rush periods and time-sensitive requests.
- Follows proper hand-washing techniques and all sanitation guidelines.
- Completes all cleaning and sanitation tasks as outlined by the Restaurant Manager or Restaurant Owner.
- Follows proper food handling, storage, preparation, and product rotation procedures.
- Minimizes food waste while maintaining required product availability and quality.
Health & Safety
- Works in compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation.
- Knows, understands, and follows safe work practices and procedures.
- Uses or wears personal protective equipment or clothing as required.
- Operates ovens,
kitchen equipment, and other machinery safely and according to training.
- Reports all injuries, illnesses, accidents, unsafe conditions, security incidents, and any contravention of health and safety legislation, policies, or procedures to the Restaurant Manager or Restaurant Owner.
- Does not operate any equipment, machine, device, or otherwise work in a manner that may endanger themselves or others.

- Previous bakery, restaurant, food service, or kitchen experience is an asset but not required.
- Flexible availability, with the ability to work early morning shifts as required.
- Ability to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, particularly for scheduled early morning shifts.
