IQ Transit Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and professional Bus Driver to transport passengers safely within Iqaluit, Nunavut. This role involves operating a bus, ensuring passenger safety, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities
· Safely operate a bus to transport passengers to various destinations within Iqaluit.
· Ensure the safety of passengers by following all traffic rules and regulations.
· Maintain a clean and well-maintained bus interior and exterior.
· Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the bus as needed.
· Collect fares or tickets from passengers and issue tickets when necessary.
· Answer passenger questions and provide information about routes and schedules.
· Communicate with the central dispatch unit as required.
· Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and in varying weather conditions.
· Ensure a positive and friendly customer service experience for all passengers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Minimum 25+ years of age.
· Valid Class 2 Driver’s License (or equivalent) with necessary endorsements.
· Five years of driving experience with a full license.
· Valid, clean driver’s abstract and driving record.
· Clean criminal record check.
· Ability to work flexible hours in all weather conditions.
· Legally authorized to work in Canada.
· Work Schedule Monday–Friday: 6:30 AM – 1:30 PM / 2:00PM - 8:30 PM
Shifts rotate every two weeks, with pay for 8 hours per day, potential overtime, and shuttle service work available on weekdays and weekends when possible.
· Five years of experience in bus driving (transit, charter, school bus, etc.).
· Safe and reliable operation of various types of buses, including transit and motorcoach buses.
· Proficiency in handling and maneuvering large vehicles in rural settings.
· Experience maintaining and conducting routine checks on buses to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
· Skilled in handling passenger interactions and addressing their needs with professionalism and courtesy.
· Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure passenger well-being.
· Adherence to all traffic laws and regulations, with a track record of accident-free driving.
· Familiarity with fare collection systems and ticketing processes.
· Ability to troubleshoot minor bus maintenance issues and coordinate repairs when necessary.
· Understanding of bus routes and navigation.
