Co-op Student - Computer/Electrical Engineer (Robotics) - January Winter 2027

Annual salary: $1,901.39 - $2,394.93 biweekly

The location of this role is in Horne Payne Burnaby, BC.

We are seeking a team-oriented Co-op student who demonstrates strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills to provide assistance and gain hands-on experience in data analytics, computer sciences, and advanced robotic applications in the utility industry.

Activities may include





- Data preparation and analysis, statistics, and predictive modeling
- Writing queries in SAS or SQL
- Documentation and report writing for business stakeholders
- Supporting the deployment and operation of Boston Dynamics SPOT, Unitree GO2, Unitree G1 robots in electrical

substation environments for inspection tasks
- Assisting with the setup, calibration, and operation of sensors for thermal imaging, acoustic monitoring, and LiDAR

scanning
- Developing and optimizing software code for automated inspection routines, data capture, and analytics

The student will learn about the utility industry and gain valuable experience in robotics, data analytics, and predictive maintenance technologies while developing communication skills, computer skills, and professional judgment. What you bring

- To qualify for a student Co-op opportunity, students must be enrolled in academic studies at a post-secondary institution in

Canada and must be returning to school after completion of their work term with BC Hydro.
- 3rd of 4th year students studying Electrical or Mechatronics or Computer engineering; previous work experience will be

preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, combined with good judgement and ability to learn quickly.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access). Confident at learning new and

specialized program environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills are an asset and the ability to work efficiently,





independently and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail.

What we offer

- As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required. This may include: reference

checks, education verification, employment verification, criminal record check, drivers abstract review, and a drug and alcohol test.
- The position will be hired first as a four month work term with a strong opportunity to extend, to eight months.
- Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate

themselves if necessary. What else you should know

Flexible work model role definitions:

Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for each position and the operational requirements.

Employees also have the right to work full time from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.

Field – No work from home option.

Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.

Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.

Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
