University of Calgary Properties Group Ltd. (UCPG) is seeking a Corporate Planning Lead to join our Finance & Accounting team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for supporting UCPG's consolidated long-range planning, annual budgeting cycle, and ongoing forecasting activities.

The Corporate Planning

Lead provides financial insights and analysis to support executive decision-making, corporate performance management, and strategic planning initiatives across UCPG and its Trusts. Working closely with the Controller, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and departmental leaders, this role bridges historical financial performance with forward-looking analysis to enhance business planning and organizational success.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING In this role, you will combine financial expertise, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to support informed decision-making and long-term organizational success.

Primary responsibilities include:

· Lead the consolidation and coordination of annual operating and capital budgets across the organization

· Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models to support long-range planning, cash flow forecasting, and capital deployment decisions

· Maintain rolling forecasts and long-term financial projections aligned with corporate objectives and accounting results

· Perform detailed variance analysis on actual results versus budget and forecast, identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities

· Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting packages, including KPI reporting, trend analysis, and financial commentary

· Provide clear and actionable financial insights to Management, the Executive Leadership Team, and the Board

· Translate complex accounting and financial results into meaningful information for non-financial stakeholders

· Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses related to development timing, leasing assumptions, interest rate changes, operating costs, and capital structure

· Support liquidity planning, financial risk assessments, and stress testing activities

· Assist in evaluating strategic initiatives, investment opportunities, and development projects from a financial planning perspective

· Create and maintain budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial planning process documentation

· Analyze existing finance processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and business value

· Develop training materials and provide support to business users on budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial planning tools

· Serve as a key liaison between Accounting and Operations to ensure reporting systems and planning processes support business requirements





· Support financial system enhancements, reporting automation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts

· Collaborate with department leaders across Development, Construction, Property Management & Leasing, Marketing, and Corporate Services to understand business drivers and forecasting assumptions

· Provide ad hoc financial analysis and special project support as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer

Other duties and projects as assigned to support corporate planning and financial performance management

WHAT YOU BRING The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

Education and Certifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field

· CFA designation, or progress toward obtaining a CFA designation, is considered an asset

· Additional qualified finance or accounting designations are considered an asset

Experience:

· Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Corporate Planning, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A;), Corporate Finance, or a closely related role

· Strong understanding of financial statements and the relationship between accounting results, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning

· Experience developing and maintaining complex financial models and performing scenario analysis

· Experience preparing management reporting packages and financial performance analysis

· Experience working with financial systems such as Yardi or similar enterprise platforms

· Experience documenting finance processes, business requirements, and analytical workflows

· Experience in real estate, development, infrastructure, or other asset-intensive industries is considered an asset

Skills & Attributes:

· Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities

· Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to present financial information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment

· Collaborative approach with the ability to build relationships across departments

· Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization

· High level of professionalism, accountability, and business acumen
