BUILDING MORE THAN A JOB The Crusher Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a McCloskey J50 mobile jaw crusher and supporting equipment to produce quality aggregate materials for civil construction and earthworks projects. The Crusher Operator monitors the crushing process, maintains appropriate material flow, performs routine inspections and adjustments, and works closely with the site supervision and equipment operators to maintain production requirements.

This position requires a strong understanding of mobile crushing operations, aggregate production, heavy equipment, site safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate and monitor the McCloskey J50 mobile jaw crusher and associated crushing equipment.
- Conduct daily pre-use inspections and identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, or operational issues.
- Monitor crusher performance, material flow, production rates, and product sizing.
- Feed and manage material entering the crusher to maintain consistent production and prevent blockages or damage.
- Operate and coordinate with excavators, loaders, haul trucks, conveyors, and other equipment supporting the crushing operation.
- Monitor stockpiles and ensure processed material is properly discharged and managed.
- Adjust crusher settings and operating conditions as required to meet production and material specifications.
- Identify and safely respond to blockages, bridging, oversized material, and other operational issues.
- Perform routine housekeeping around the crusher, conveyors, and work area.




- Complete required equipment inspection, maintenance, production, and operational records.
- Perform routine greasing, fluid checks, cleaning, and other operator-level maintenance as required.
- Communicate equipment deficiencies and maintenance requirements to the appropriate supervisor or maintenance personnel.
- Assist maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repairs when required, while following all lockout/tagout procedures.
- Maintain a safe working area around the crusher and ensure personnel remain transparent of moving equipment and hazardous areas.
- Follow all company policies, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety requirements, project-specific safety requirements, and environmental procedures.
- Participate in toolbox meetings, safety meetings, inspections, and training.
- Work cooperatively with other operators, labourers, mechanics, supervisors, and project personnel.
- Perform other duties related to crushing and earthworks operations as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

- Previous experience operating a mobile crusher in a construction, aggregate, mining, or earthworks environment.
- Experience working around heavy civil construction equipment.




- Strong understanding of crusher operation and material processing.
- Ability to recognize equipment hazards, abnormal operating conditions, and potential mechanical issues.
- Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and machine maintenance.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying Alberta weather conditions.
- Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and/or varying shifts as required by project schedules.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
