Toronto Metropolitan University is reshaping the downtown core of Toronto with three current buildings: the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens, the Toronto Metropolitan University Image Centre in the heart of campus, and a Student Learning Centre on Yonge Street. In addition, currently in progress is the development of a new multipurpose building,



the Church Street development (CSD). This new building will be located just north of Dundas on Church Street and will be home to four academic health services programs, Toronto Met.

University food services, administration, and a student residence.

Qualifications

Relevant Experience:

- Candidate must be enrolled in CYC Master’s program (1st or second year) and enrolled in CYC graduate courses.
- Knowledge of course content to successfully complete grading requirements.

Previous evaluation of performance as an Assistant at the University (if applicable). There are multiple positions.
- Total hours = 40 (each position)

Course delivery can be online, in-person or hybrid at the sole discretion of the hiring unit. Candidates who are required for in-person courses will be required to carryout their duties on campus. Candidates working remotely are required to have access to the appropriate technology, i.e. computer with camera and microphone and high-speed internet.
- Actual hours may vary at offer time dependent on qualifications and determined rate of pay. Employees can work up to a maximum of 130 hours per semester or 390 hours per academic year. Employees shall not be guaranteed work and when not on assignment they shall not receive any pay or payment in lieu of benefits.

Attending Employer Orientation

Orientation for new AAs: TMU offers paid, mandatory training for AAs who are currently working their first AA (first time hires, not first time in a given Faculty) position at TMU. This mandatory online training includes the following: Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Workplace Violence Prevention and Response, Access to Information and Protection of Privacy, Environmental Health and Safety, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). New assistants will be paid 4 hours to complete this training.

Faculty general orientation sessions may be offered to first time Assistant hires. This orientation is a minimum of 1.5 hours.

You may complete this training prior to the commencement of your appointment. Please complete this training no later than within two weeks after the start of your contract. After completion of this training, you are required to forward your certificates of completion to the CYC School, Darlene Hunt, [email protected] in order to receive payment.
