We are looking for an engineer to help manage, optimize, and migrate our databases across SQL Server and PostgreSQL. You’ll be hands‑on with backup pipelines, schema design, performance tuning, and migrations that support our trading and analytics applications.
Responsibilities
Database Operations
Manage SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases for reliability and performance.
Set up and monitor backup/restore pipelines (FULL/DIFF/LOG for SQL Server).
Implement replication and failover strategies.
Optimization & Tuning
Analyze queries and indexes to improve speed and reduce storage overhead.
Redesign schemas (e.g., splitting large tables into domain-specific ones).
Benchmark performance across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and alternative platforms.
Migration & Integration
Plan and execute migrations from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
Support recent app integrations by provisioning schemas, roles, and permissions.
Work with application teams to adapt queries and ORM usage.
Documentation & Runbooks
Write procedures for backups, replication, and failover.
Maintain data dictionaries and schema change logs.
Requirements
Must-Have Skills:
SQL Server administration (backup/restore, indexing, replication).
