FULL-TIME DENTAL ASSISTANT / OFFICE FLOATER
Location: Scarborough, Ontario
Position: Full-Time Dental Assistant / Office Floater
We are a busy, friendly and well-established dental office in Scarborough looking for a reliable, dedicated and motivated Dental Assistant / Office Floater to join our team on a full-time basis.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, maintains a high standard of cleanliness and organization, and is willing to step in wherever needed to support the smooth and efficient operation of the practice.
The ideal candidate will be a HARP-certified dental professional with a strong understanding of IPAC requirements, excellent infection-control practices, a positive attitude and the ability to work confidently in a fast-paced dental workplace.
Responsibilities
Dental Assisting
- Provide professional and efficient chairside assistance to the dentist and RDH
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all necessary instruments, materials and supplies are available.
- Assist with a variety of dental procedures as required and taking radiographs.
- Prepare and maintain operatories before, during and after patient appointments.
- Maintain excellent infection prevention and control standards at all times.
- Follow proper sterilization, disinfection and instrument-processing procedures.
- Ensure all sterilization areas and clinical spaces remain clean, organized and properly stocked.
- Assist with dental impressions, radiographs and other clinical procedures as permitted by training and applicable regulations.
- Prepare and organize instruments and materials for scheduled procedures.
- Maintain appropriate clinical documentation and follow office protocols.
Office Floater Duties As a floater, you will be expected to be flexible and assist wherever you are needed throughout the office.
Duties may include
- Supporting dentists, RDH, dental assistants
- Assisting reception and administrative staff when required.
- Helping with room turnover and maintaining an efficient patient flow.
- Restocking dental and office supplies.
- Keeping operatories, sterilization areas and common areas clean and organized.
- Helping prepare the office for the beginning and end of the day.
- Monitoring supplies and communicating when items need to be ordered.
- Assisting team members during busy periods.
- Taking initiative to identify tasks that need to be completed rather than waiting to be asked.
- Helping maintain a professional, welcoming and organized environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications & Skills
- HARP certification required.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of IPAC requirements and infection-control protocols.
- Excellent knowledge of dental instruments, operatory setup and sterilization procedures.
- Extremely clean, organized and detail-oriented.
- Punctual, dependable and reliable.
- Dedicated and committed to providing excellent support to the dental team.
- Friendly, respectful and professional with patients and coworkers.
- Quick learner who is willing to learn new systems, procedures and responsibilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to multitask and remain organized in a busy dental office.
- Able to work independently while also being an effective team player.
- Self-motivated and willing to take initiative and be in charge when necessary.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Willing to help with both clinical and administrative duties as required.
- Professional appearance and excellent work ethic.
