Space Age Shelving & Design – Cambridge, Ontario

Space Age Shelving & Design is a family-owned and operated company that has been serving homeowners and builders throughout Waterloo Region and surrounding areas since 1987. We specialize in custom closet and storage solutions, including walk-in and reach-in closets, pantries, mudrooms, laundry rooms, home offices, entertainment units, and garage storage.

We are looking for a motivated and personable Closet Designer / Sales Consultant to join our team. This is a sales-focused design position for someone who enjoys working directly with homeowners, creating functional and attractive spaces, and turning those designs into sales.

What You'll Do

- Meet with prospective customers for in-home design consultations.
- Discuss each customer's storage needs, style, priorities, and budget.
- Accurately measure closets and other spaces.
- Create custom 3D designs using company-provided design software.
- Present designs, finishes, accessories, and pricing.
- Prepare quotations and proposals.
- Make design revisions and follow up with prospective customers.
- Close sales and obtain signed contracts and deposits.
- Maintain communication with customers throughout the design and sales process.
- Occasionally meet customers in our Cambridge showroom.
- Coordinate with our office and installation teams to ensure sold projects are accurately communicated.

This is a design and sales position and does not involve installation or regular physical labour.

- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn specialized 3D design software.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate measuring skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and follow-up skills.
- The ability to manage multiple customers and projects at the same time.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
- A professional appearance and approach when representing our company.

Experience in sales, interior design, cabinetry, kitchens, closets, renovations, home improvement, or a related industry is an asset.

Compensation

- 10% commission on the pre-tax value of all projects sold
- $50 per month cellphone allowance
- Uncapped earning potential

This is a performance-based position with strong earning potential for a motivated designer who can successfully manage leads and close sales. Leads & Sales Support

You will not be expected to build the position entirely through cold calling or prospecting.

Space Age Shelving & Design generates customer inquiries through our established reputation, website, showroom, referrals, builders, and marketing efforts.

You will be responsible for professionally managing the opportunities provided to you, following up with prospective customers, and converting those opportunities into sales. Vehicle & Travel

This position involves regular travel to customer homes throughout Waterloo Region and surrounding communities.

Applicants must

- Have a valid Ontario driver's licence.
- Have reliable access to their own vehicle.
- Be comfortable travelling to customer appointments.
- Maintain appropriate automobile insurance for the required use of their vehicle.

The employee is responsible for their personal vehicle and associated operating expenses.

Schedule

Customer consultations are primarily scheduled during weekday business hours, although some flexibility may occasionally be required based on customer needs.

The position is based out of our Cambridge showroom, with regular travel to customer homes throughout our service area.

We're looking for someone who can represent our company professionally, develop strong relationships with customers, create thoughtful designs, and turn those designs into successful projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: 10% commission on pre-tax sales with uncapped earning potential

Location: Cambridge, Ontario, with travel throughout Waterloo Region and surrounding areas

Pay: $2,000.00-$10,000.00 per month
