Lead research ethics and compliance initiatives at the University of Manitoba, acting as a strategic advisor to the VP of Research and International. This full time, in-person role influences research with human participants ensuring ethical integrity. Reporting to the Vice-President (Research and International), the Director of Human Research Ethics is responsible for developing ethical standards and ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
The position includes directing ethics education, overseeing protocol reviews, and maintaining high standards in research practices. You will also implement policies aligned with the university's strategic goals while fostering collaboration across departments. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee ethics reviews and compliance processes for human participant research
- Direct education for faculty and staff on research ethics
- Develop and implement new research policies and procedures
- Liaise with external partners on research initiatives
- Ensure adherence to regulations and standards Requirements:
- PhD related to human research ethics
- 5 years experience in research ethics or compliance
- Knowledge of TCPS2, FIPPA, and PHIA
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Experience with policy development and strategic direction Drive high ethical standards in research and collaborate with diverse stakeholders while maintaining compliance at the University of Manitoba.
