Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and lead assigned programs
- Create Program themes and prepare thorough lesson plans including activities
- Stock valuable quality supplies and ensure all preparation and supplies are ready prior to start of class
- Provide a clean and safe environment for children; guide, teach, and encourage children at every opportunity during class
- Clean-up after class is finished by putting away toys and materials, and wiping and disinfecting surfaces
- Prepare end-of-program certificates
- Liaise with the Children’s Centre Coordinator to discuss and plan Program content
- Submit lesson plans to the Coordinator and provide regular updates and feedback regarding course content, participants, problems encountered, and any achieved progress
- Identify aspect of the Programs that have been successful or need improvement for next year’s classes
- Interact positively and professionally with children and their parents
- Communicate with Members about their children and personalize the interaction by learning their names (i.e. call Parents by last name and children by first names)
- Provide positive feedback and discuss any concerns about the children
- Maintain an attendance record and follow-up with Members regarding unexpected non-attendances
- Report on children’s progress and participation at least once a session
- Distribute Class Evaluation Form to Members for program feedback
Requirements & Qualifications
- Child First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Criminal Record Review by Ministry of Education
- 3 Years Experience working with children ages 2.5-6 years
- Experience in a Montessori environment an asset
- Knowledge using Montessori equipment an asset
- Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to lead programs solo or with groups of children of varying ages, needs, and abilities
- Ability to lead programs that are both academic and play-based
