We are currently seeking a full-time intermediate level Electrical Technician/Technologist, to join our Energy and Resources Team. You will have the prospect to join our Integrated Design team providing project design support through our entire Energy and Resources operating unit. This includes exposure to industry sectors such as Power Generation and Distribution, Oil & Gas, Mining, and the rapidly growing renewable energy sector and energy transition projects across North America.
As an Electrical Technologist, your role is to work with direct supervision and general direction on tasks and smaller projects,
and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a senior Technologist or Engineer. Under the direction of an Engineer/Technologist, assist with engineering design activities for projects of various complexity/sizes supporting design for buildings, underground electrical distribution systems, lighting, and wiring means. Perform thorough quality control (QA/QC) of models and sheet files for standards compliance, discipline coordination and ensures comments have been addressed by the responsible CAD Technician and others as required.
Ensure that all drafting work is completed accurately, on time, and within budget. Review and check drafting work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and codes. Provide technical guidance and support to drafting personnel.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers to ensure that all drafting work is coordinated with project requirements. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors to ensure that all drafting work is completed to the required standards. Ensure that all drafting work is properly documented and stored in accordance with project requirements.
Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure that project deadlines are met. Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports. Collaborates with other disciplines (architectural, mechanical, instrumentation, civil/structural, process piping etc.) Assists in development of Construction Work Packages (CWP's).
Participates in site visits and field engineering work. Understands and works within Stantec's project delivery, and quality control guidelines. Complies with Stantec's EH&S; program, with a focus on safety in the field.
Assist with client-specific document control and comply to client specific standards. Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks to meet project budget and schedule. Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written), including effective communication in a remote 'work-from-home' scenario.
Proficient in conversational French (oral and written). Technical proficiency, good understanding of engineering fundamentals and process improvement skills. Knowledgeable with Microsoft 365 office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Requires strong understanding of AutoCAD (V2020 or newer) CAD design software and principles. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in drafting software and technology. Requires understanding of MicroStation design software and principles.
Requires understanding of SharePoint. Familiarity with industry standards and applicable Canadian Electrical Code, CSA codes and standards is considered an asset. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience consulting field.
College
Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized school required. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
